This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
The Viking Kitty (Molly) dispatcher belongs to Lady Jag.
They are all gorgeous, but I really really like True Quest. He'd knock em all dead in the ring just by looks alone :-) I really like Ghost and Friday too. They're all lovely.
It wouldn't be easy to roll even the pony over... I'd guess she's still 7-800 pounds.
I've seen her get cast before up against the wall and she's been able to kick herself off the wall, luckily. This time I think she got fouled in the gate.
Abcesses are very painful, but better than laminitis. That's good news.
Speaking of laminitis. I wonder how Tuffy is doing.
If Tuffy keeps the same laid back attitude as he grows up, we could put him in a costume class, or just about anything. Nothing much seems to bother him.
Better. He's getting x-rays the end of this week or beginning of next week, to check for rotation.
Biscuit is just coming three? Definately a good sized horse.
It does sound like she got cast, I hope she is okay.
Thanks.
Thanks :)
Now that is really good news.
Good to hear that she's okay.
I just love the Viking Kitty :)
She's trouble.... is what she really is ;~D
He's well set to be a nice English Horse.... does he have good motion too?
Speaking of movement.... Friday looks pretty animated in her trot.... she'd be a loud competitor in a dressage class too ;~D
Just in from my morning ride, and read all the way thru the post, and was glad to see that Pony is OK:)
I've been lucky in never having had one get stuck like that, but I've worried about it. I don't know if I would hear one banging at night our barn is to far from the house.

The shoe job seems to be working wonderfully. We climb hills, trotted, loped good long distances, no clicking, no interference marks on his pasterns. And it may just be my imagination, but I think he is moving softer, lighter on his feet, he didn't seem to stumble as much.
He is standing tied to the tree right now, cooling off before I pull the saddle and check his back.

Well, that's good news! Hey - any time when your worry instinct is reversed and you're imagining that he's way better than usual is a good thing.
I'm very relieved. I've had horrible worries of this horse having all kinds of problems with his feet and/or back. There are no perfect horses you know. Most have some kind of problem you have to deal with. I'm so glad that these back and leg problems seem to be resolved, altho I'm not 100% sure about the back yet. I know we are making progress, but not sure we're all the way there.
(I know I tend to over worry tho:)
