The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Definately in a confined area, yes and I'd be hesitant to let the child ride by themselves unless I was right there, like 1' away to grab the pony or the child. Especially since it's someone else's kid on your property.

Hi all, catching up.........Ruthy, so glad you are OK. Did you get much damage? Are the girls ok?
Tuffy, what a beautiful dress! I love to sew too and made all of Emma's clothes up to the age of 3. I sew by hand, not by machine and was taught by a french seamstress who I don't think knew how to smile! : )
Hair.....before you post pics of critters can you put a warning ahead of them, so that I don't shriek and wake my little one up next time! LOL

Hi Rose!

Our gate fell and we lost some more shingles off of the roof, but no major damage. We did lose a whole lot more trees, which is always heartbreaking.

The girls are great and Alyson had her cast taken off yesterday. I don't remember if I told you, but she had broken her right foot when a glass table fell over on it. Poor thing. 4 weeks in a cast is rough for anyone, but miserable for a 3 year old.

Power is back, along with phone, DSL and water. We had cable for a few hours but that's gone again.

No problem though. We're enjoying some movies we haven't seen in a while. :-D

No, these are her first. She needed a little help. 2 eggs were taken. Even though, she was told if both used she might have twins, they were both her babies and that was alright.

Today we had some severe weather come thru. A tornado was spotted a couple of miles from us. We had to put everyone in the halls. I was really impressed with how smooth things went. It dissipated before reaching us though.

My husbands greats were a Mc too. When they came from Ireland they dropped it though. My husband's father and his brother went to work for a shipyard and were told that two people with the same last name couldn't be hired so my FIL dropped an E from his and they both went to work. Can you imagine just changing your name like that, nowdays?

Yep. I was only on during my lunchbreak and had my bosses permission. The higher ups checked me. It's ok though caz if I'm busy, I don't have time for lunch anyway. When things aren't crazy, I come home for lunch.

I am just glad you are ok. Catching up on movies is a fun time! Glad Alyson finally has her cast off, I bet she was ready for that! : ) I can't imagine Tommy (same age) in a cast!

I am currently battling my camcorder which has the ability to create little movies to share online.

The software is a bit of a challenge and the instruction booklet is sometimes hard to understand.

But I am determined to share at least one bit of the storm with you all and the Hobbit Hole. :-D

Good Morning.

Ruthie...good to hear you came thru the hurricane ok.

Rose, you have had frost down there? Tonight, we might have our first one.

Picking up a 19 year-old TB mare this weekend for my oldest daughter.

And of course, I'll be putting some miles on her as well.

Can't wait.

Thanks. I'm really not a very experienced seamstress, I make mistakes all the time. That's why I like making costumes, a mistake isn't a big deal, like it would be on a formal dress or something someone was going to wear on a regular basis. I've tried quilting but it bores me to tears.

I'll bet you and your daughter are both all excited. Bringing home a new horse is such a rush. Watching them interact with the established "herd" can be a lot of fun. How are you planning on introducing her to your other horses?
