This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
"Ever seen an english seminar trainer that has videos? I haven't."
I Have!!!!! I used to get dressage magazines and they had them in it. I think you can find some at the Dressage Extensions web site.
About 6 months ago I spent about $14 on a small book with lots of pics of dogs and captions. It was very funny, but was only about 20 pages long. If you could turn out something similar with those good horse shots you do, then you would be on to a winner!
Refusal to load is a really frustrating problem. I've been there, and made some of my worst mistakes there. With Bay as a matter of fact, when Bob had him, and he had a small older two horse trailer. Bay hated going in there. It was old, and dark, and too small for him. The more we begged and pleaded with him, the more we tried to force him, the more he ended up hurting himself.
I wonder, with the advent and popularity of nice bright slant loads, with nice wide doorways where you can lead them in and it's not quite so constricted, if horses generally have fewer issues about loading than they did 20 years ago.
There was a horse that a guy at my dad's work bought, that would not go into a horse trailer. They tried to force him in and he would not go. The bad thing was they had the trailer in a spot where the horse could not even see into the trailer!! I don't know if that horse had ever been in anything but a cattle trailer, since he was a mustang, but I am glad that my dad told me what they did and I didn't see it.
I tried Jenny's but the glare always comes out right on Rocky.

"Parelly the one that does something like "Seven Games"?"
I'm not sure, I don't watch him too much.
Thanks tuffy! : )
You are more than welcome!

There's no one on the pony ride! Did ya go? ;~D
Looks like a fun place :~D
It's a great photo, I can tell.
I don't get RFDTV... so I miss out on that.
Our tack shop has a free library of videos you can borrow. I should go check some out. ecurbh's never seen them.
I don't think it's too late to use Stinger. You might want to have a custom applicator spray it on for you.Stinger is really expensive and I don't know what the minimum amount is that you can buy.We have bought it by the gallon, but a gallon does about 18 acres if I remember correctly. The last time I bought Stinger it cost us about 600.00 a gallon.I don't have any left-if I did I would send you enough to do the pasture.
I think that John Lyon's is a fraud. I enjoyed your rant, and agree with it 100%.
I saw Zip at the Equine Affaire in Springfeild about 10 or so years ago. I remember that he was in harness. The demonstration that John was doing was a horse with "agression issues" Of course, you never got to see how agressive the horse actually was. Later Zip was in the "Symphony of Horses" show.
Reminds me of a Chris Ledoux song :)
Indians used to break horses from rearing up by breaking a bottle of liquid over their head. Bob hits them between the ears with a riding crop if he's mounted, on the ground he hits their front legs on the cannon bone area with a lungeing whip.
