This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
You chuckled despite the typo? :~D
Well, I'm not going to make a worthwhile training video to fix problem horses, the footage we need is the really dangerous part. That's prolly why they don't do it :~D
Oh you didn't insult me. I'm no Denis fan either.
English riding is a pretty picture.
Course, a good cowboy can make a good picture too, but I wouldn't call it ~pretty~
You're right about Chris Cox though. I'd forgot about him. He is good.
Chris Cox is on RFDTV. You ought to be able to search for him on the DVR.
I think the seminar trainers are interesting to watch, and you can learn something from it, they're just very packaged, and making all that happen with your own backyard horse is harder than it looks in the video.
I watch RFDTV, sometimes, mainly cattle though! As for a DVR.......we dont have one!
Which would be fine, if they would just tell you that. ;~D
I think the best training is live. We are fortunate to have friends who are into horses in a big way, they are free with help and advice and a good get together is a great excuse for grilling! : )
Is Parelly the one that does something like "Seven Games"? My friend Tiff has been going somewhere where they do something called "Seven Games" and I think she said Parelli.
mmmmm....cowboys....
Um Hair, I didn't post the italics! : )
I know... I was quoting myself, with follow up!
...see your tagline. ;~D
That's it, you said it in a nutshell, what I have against those trainers. Thank you:)
Becky
You're right.
I had a photographer come out here one year when the kids where home and we had steers for Charlie to rope. I had pictures made of Charlie roping, and Jenny running barrels. They are really neat pictures, (their still hanging on my walls in old barn wood frames:) but I wouldn't call them pretty.

About the John Lyons videos..In one of my riding classes we watched one where he had this arab. When he started running him he was fresh, then all of a sudden he had sweat all over him. We all were trying to figure out how all of the sudden he was covered in sweat. Another thing we noticed was that before John was not wearing spurs, then all the sudden he was wearing spurs. It would be helpful if these trainers would be honest and just tell us the truth. The only video I have ever seen where there was a problem horse was with Monte Roberts. He was holding a seminar and this lady had a horse that took her hours to load into a trailer. He had the lady try to load the horse and he would not go it, so he took the horse and did his thing, and the horse went in. the lady was crying her eyes out.
There is an artistic aspect to cowboy sports, I love a good cutting horse
You've got a horse there that's thinking like a predator.
I think I'd like to get into horse photography.
LOL! It works well for me, so go right ahead! : )
Cutting and reining rock. Wish I knew more about training cutting horses. Beren loves to chase cows, English saddle and all! It's a funny sight.
