Shouldn't the official thread have the show's name spelled correctly in the title? LOL

If you do, bring as much people.. The more money it makes, there is a better chance there will be a sequel..

It certainly feels lonely without that usual Sci-Fi night, though. Sucks that we have to wait for January.

I anticipated ROTS more than Serenity, I didn't even know about the movie until a couple of months ago, but after seeing it today, it is a much better movie than ROTS. Definitely the best movie sci-fi this year.

Of the 23 developers I dragged to the Serenity showing, only 3 were what I would call diehard Browncoats; 12 had seen some or all of the series on DVD or on TV. My informal poll after the film indicates the movie plays well for non-Browncoats. All 3 Browncoats loved the film (one was rather upset about something that happens near the end), and all 12 of those who had seen Firefly but were not fanatics about it. Of the 8 others, six described the film as Excellent, one liked it well enough, and one was not so thrilled.
Granted, most of my team (and probably most software types in general) are sci-fi fans, but that was a pretty good breakdown for Whedon I imagine. The showing was probably 75% full, and there was a line waiting to get in to the 3:15 showing when we got out.

1. What can I say, this movie is what I go to the movies for. Good plot, eye candy that helped the plot, not just CGI porn. The script was tight and well written. And the diologue was well done, and the entire Miranda sequence was just creepy...the way it should have been.
All in all, fine work by Whedon and crew.
2. Hope the word on the sequel options is true, and heck, this might bring Firefly back to the small screen?
3. Add me to the Sci-fi ping list?

I watched the movie last night. You definitely must watch the original series to get the full effect of the movie. I enjoyed the whole movie immensely.
There is fight scenes with River Tam (Summer Glau) in there that I enjoyed watching very very much..for some reason. They choreographed the fight very well.
I will not spoil the movie for anyone talking about revising the series.. but there would be changes if they did bring it back.
I guess I will have to add the Firefly series to my DVD collection:-)
