Jim Wallis doesn't know God from John Kerry.
In fact, John Kerry might just be his god.

The guy is a leftist editor of "Sojourners," and everything I have read in that useless mag is "solidarity with the poor" and anti-capitalist. He tries to come off as "moderate" because he criticizes the left as not "pro-life" enough, but then directs all his attacks on conservatives. I have no use for the guy.

I was curious about this. My friend belongs to PCUSA is really questioning the church ( no surprise there). I do not doubt her faith but some of things she was talking about were right out of the liberal play book.I have found there are a few others with similar thoughts as hers and they too belong to PCUSA

Jim Wallis is dangerous. He worships a social-god (government) not the God of the Bible. His agenda is to replace God with that social-god (government). The liberals would love nothing better than to have Christians take their eyes of the risen Lord and His teachings. Stay tuned to the next election, with Katrina Wallis and his ilk will push their god (government) as never before.

When my friend made the same exact statement that my liberal "we all worship the same gods" friend made to me a few months ago the hair went up on the back of my head. I may read the book so I can have and educated discussion regarding the book. I have a bit of trouble with some of these modern Christian authors. "Beware of false prophets.....thank you for your comments

It is a good idea to know what the enemy thinks, however wear your armor of truth when you do so. Know that many do-gooders may have right intentions in helping the needy, etc., but have no intention in glorifying our God when doing so. Sadly, the glory goes to government, not the Creator.

I so agree and thank you for your thoughts....I need to enter the discussion with prayer...

Jim Wallis has been hired by the Dims to "advise them on spiritual issues" (translation: teach them how to fool the Christians into thinking liberals actually believe in God long enough to get their votes). He's largely responsible for all their noise about "taking back religion from the radical right."

Yeah I just googled him and I am not going to waste my time with him or his writings...I do not want to give him any support by buying his books....my question is what has he done to take care of the hungry that he claims Christians are ignoring

My advice to you is to not bother reading anything that has been deemed off-base by people you trust. You can spend your valuable time reading some of the really good books out there.
I am curious as to the circumstances which caused your friend to bring up such a book.

Ditto on that!
Sounds like she is not worshipping in a place where the challenge is to pursue knowledge of God.

I haven't read the book, but my opinion is that if God was a leftist, we'd be talking about the "Ten Suggestions".
