I disagree on that, I bet shep and his crew get around a lot more then any food trucks.

I know when he has in Miami during Andrew it seemed like he was everywhere.

If he's not his usual polished self, it's very bad indeed and getting worse.

Rather then bash him for trumpeting a warning, people should listen to what he is pointing out, especially those with the power to make things happen.

The point I was trying to make, if reporters can be there, I mean someone drove them there or landed a copter there right, so why aren't some relief supplies brought there with them. Every little bit helps and MRE's, canned goods, water and medical supplies can be packed tight. It borders on the surrealistic that a television crew can be on the scene complaining that there are no supplies there when they could have brought some themselves.

Just like they showed pictures of those small towns in Mississippi that had no "official" relief, well if they can get pictures surely they can dump some food and water there too.

Reporters are not blue-screened over the disaster, they are there, right next to the needy people.

At FR we like to hold people accountable, particularly politicians and bureaucrats who try to cover up their flawed decision-making.

The lack of troops available prior to the storm is the responsibility of one person and one person only.

She is the governor of Louisiana.

She failed to ask for Federal troops and logistics at a time several days before the storm hit when the experts were saying a Cat 5 would hit New Orleans.

If such troops were available with air delivery and command and control infrastructure the city would have been safe for a rapid and orderly distribution of food and water, and then a rapid and orderly evacuation.

The governor--every time you see a crying mother or dying elderly person on your TV screen, remember who is responsible.

I am still waiting for her apology to the people of her largest city, her state, and the country.

I loved the story of the young black man who stole a bus from a abandoned parking lot full of buses in New Orleans, filled it up with refugees as he drove down the highway, and drove it to the Astrodome.

That is what Americans are supposed to do--take the initiative and solve problems.

That guy is a hero--a true leader--and it is his qualities that is lacking in the local politicians.
