Morning Sam - I bookmarked a couple of the sites, both looked pretty good. Buying the prod and firing mechanism seems like a good way to go. Those old crossbows and the reproductions are pretty interesting weaponry. Still, haven't got passed the 'hmmm' stage though.
The gator hunting was a cool story, only got one medium sized one, arrowed a big one that just ran away with the arrow and float. They kept the skull of the one they got. That would make an interesting desk nic-nac.
Morning Osage, everyone.
I know a guy here in Miami who makes his own rifles professionally for sale. Including some side by sides that shoot a .50, for use in Africa. He makes the barrels and the stocks, but buys the firing mechanisms from Remington - I figure I could do well enough to follow his example on the mechanism, the "action" I guess it's called. Not that I'm getting that from Remington.
That's fascinating about the gators hunting, yeah, glad they kept the skull.
I was just looking at some pictures of that good sized gator we called out of the swamp in July. My daughter wanted to take a picture, so we started making the gator call at one we saw going back into the grass, the thing turned around and came running straight at us, came right close.
