How are things?

Well...I gots me an interview outfit.

First off I went to Penneys and such on my own and didn't get anything...mostly because I went to Foley's just on the off chance they might have a better selection. I dunno much about Foley's, but the way the store HERE is set up, it's all mirrors and twists and turns and a hugh perfume section, and after a very short time I was literally feeling dizzy and confused and headachy, but it took me awhile to find the way out of the place. Nerve-wracking!

So I went and got a small Blizzard at Dairy Queen and went back home instead. Oops.

When Jen got home she took me back and cruelly forced me to try stuff on. ;-) After much vacillation, I got a sorta loose-fitting light teal blouse and black trousers. Also earrings that go with the silver buttons on the blouse. Oh, and some very low-heeled black pumps - just Hush Puppies. They were on sale, and I've had those before and know I can walk in 'em. Barely have a heel, but it's a good compromise between flats and anything more, and I'll actually wear them for church and all 'cause they aren't ridiculously uncomfortable and ungainly. My last pair held up well, too...until the right shoe got mislaid during a move. *sigh*

I still feel funny, mostly 'cause I've never worn dress pants. When I dress up, I wear dresses. Wearing pants and a blouse just seems casual. But Jen tells me this is more professional looking than something more frilly would be, and that seemed to be what you folkses were sayin', too.

Heh...I'm a hick, I dunno about these things. I interviewed for my last job in a plaid flannel jumper and a turtleneck and penny-loafers. Likely woulda looked silly anywhere but there! Now I'm kinda sorta in the city, it's different. At least everything I got was on sale and can be used again.

I am *going* to get this job. I've gotta now.

It went all right, sis...it went ok. We did discuss it at length and of course I didn't like what I heard and am even more convinced that I did the right thing. She sees nothing wrong with what they did and since they had the ability to do it can't see why anyone would have a problem.

It's really very sad...I still don't even know who she is.

But we're able to look at each other and be in the same room with each other and that is the only thing I hoped for and I'm content. If I'm going to have to deal with her, I want to be able to deal with her comfortably.

But our close friendship is gone. And it was slowly fading for a long time, so that when this hubbub came, there was nothing left to hold on to...if that makes any sense. I turned to my friend, and found her gone and I don't even know exactly when she left.
