But...don't you have The Movies? :-D

Driving somewhere you don't know is always nerve-wracking. Especially on interstates where everyone is driving really fast and you're just trying to make sure you can get off at the right exit in one piece.

I'm scared of I-95 here in South Florida. I loathe going anywhere that requires me to drive on that expressway. Usually, I'll take the turnpike even though it's further west - then exit and head east on a surface street until I get to where I'm going.

Takes longer, but I-95 is the most terrifying highway I've ever been on. Uneven lanes, faded lines, almost-always-there debris and hunks of tire. ~shudder~

Imagine that at night!

Rampaging toaster vs armed squirrel.

Getting on and off scares me, too. And the lanes thing.

Long distance driving on the interstate wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

Roasted nuts or toasted squirrel?

Decisions, decisions.

I don't wanna!

Yeah, I do have The Movies. And a few other things. I guess...that could do. ;-)

I agree... driving in unfamiliar places is nerve-wracking. I *hate* driving in L.A. By contrast ...Phoenix is surprisingly good and easy to get around.

But I will never, never *ever* rent a car in Boston again. Not ever. Not unless I can rent an up-armored Humvee with a .50 in a turret mount up top. ...and only if Hertz would throw in the cost of ammo. :-)

There's a reason they call 'em M*ssholes out there. They hunt in packs. :-)

Ew!

Now that you mention it, I think I remember that.

I've never hit a live animal on the interstate...my luck is to come across the mangled remains of something someone else hit - at night and with no way to swerve. And then I spent the next week trying not to think about what kinda crud is on the bottom of my vehicle.

Ew!

The bigger question is which of them has more numbers to back them up?

The face-off could be in a WalMart parking lot that borders a state park.

Heh...I used to almost have to fly into Logan all the time when I was stationed overseas - it was the nearest international airport.

Dad said he'd happily pay for a bus - heck, even a taxi - to get me to and from the airport.

He won't drive there.

Popping in FOTR always makes me feel better.

Even if I'm not actually watching, I love hearing their voices and the soundtrack in the background.

Even more so when you aren't driving your own car.

You're trying to adjust to a new vehicle at the same time you're trying to figure out where the heck you are.

The only thing I've ever hit was a raccoon. Was driving a Honda Accord and he was a big one. He jumped right from the trees into my bumper... was doing about 50 on a dark backcountry road. Scared the crap out of me. Poor little critter never felt a thing, I'm pretty sure..

Some advice....get a car with New York plates.

I fly to Providence when I go that way.

And isn't almost always a possum?

They are the most certain-road-kill creatures alive.

I'm pretty sure the squirrels would have the benefit of numbers.

But a 4-slot toaster could take out four at a time.

Five, if it uses the cord as a weapon.

You know...I don't think I've ever seen a possum.

Back home, the typical road-kill critters are porcupines, skunks, raccoons, and of course squirrels. Sometimes turkeys.

Driving across country we also saw an armadillo...first I'd ever seen, and it were dead...
