Ahhh...see, I think that's the truth...no ingition to light the gas to re-warm the water as it's used.
Good idea about the laundry.
Yes, I have a can-opener.
Got the laptop charged...don't have a cellphone anymore.
We do have a massive tarp for when our shop roof was destroyed in a hail storm (it was old and rusty).
We've got plenty of candles, lamp oil and matches.
This little bird smacked hard into the front windows and fell to the ground, he was moving his head around, but not taking off again when I had to leave. I couldn't tell if he was just shaken or mortally wounded, but his neck didn't seem broken.
I needed to be able to let the dogs and the cat out to pee, so I picked him up and put him in Bay's stall, where he could have some protection from the pets and still fly out if/when he got his wits together.
He was gone when I got home, so I'm hopeful.
I know how you feel with the big trees around the house ;~D
I love my shade, but windstorms are a bad deal in a cardboard house in the woods.
I sure hope you don't have a lot of wind and can come through it unscathed.
Hehehe....I always get a kick out of it when someone says to get a can opener. Like, everyone's got one, right. I just never realized that a lot of people have only electric ones. IMO you don't need an electric one unless you've got arthritis or something.
See ya later...Steve'll be home any minute.
I hope the bird is OK, but just wanted to say that that reminded me of a joke.
You're gonna have to tell me the joke ;~D
Aw, jeez. Poor little fella. Glad it seems to have turned out OK.
As for winds, we've had some pretty strong winds (gusts above 60 mph) during heavy thunderstorms before and come through them ok... so I think we'll be all right (knock on wood).
In the event you lose power, do you have phone numbers to check in with someone?
When we lost power in the last ice storm we still had hot water, even though the gas furnance wouldn't click on. Hmmmm. Just checked, the water heater is not wired to any electrical service, guess it must be an internal thermostat thingy.
Once upon a time, there was a little bird who refused to fly south for the winter. His friends tried to convince him that winter was coming and he should go, but the little bird refused. Finally, his friends left on their journey, but the little bird remained behind. Pretty soon the weather turned bitter cold. The little bird began to shiver. After a while, he decided he had made a mistake, so he too headed south. But he was too late and as he flew, ice formed on his wings. He grew more and more weary until finally he fell to earth in a cow pasture, freezing and exhausted. He was convinced he was going to die. As he lay there, freezing to death, a cow came by and **** on him. The manure warmed his body and wings. The bird realized he would live. He was so happy, he began to sing. A cat was passing by and heard the singing. The cat dug into the manure, uncovered the bird and promptly ate him.
There are three morals to this story:
1. Not everyone who ****s on you is your enemy.
2. Not everyone who gets you out of **** is your friend.
3. If you're happy in your own ****, keep your mouth shut.
ROTFL! Good joke!
We got a cell number for Ruthy too, don't know if that's current either.
Nope, our number hasn't changed.
Never heard it before!
