After the other workers I saw today, it just seems like I'm doing so little. I can't talk to people. I can't comfort anyone. I don't know what to say to strangers. I just don't have that skill. My mother could - she was someone who was really able to just love anyone, and put them at ease. One of my brothers is the same way, and it's something that is just...well...a real God-given talent, IMO. It impresses me a LOT.

Almost every time I wander out of the Hobbit Hole, I end up arguing with someone. I was called a "welfare queen" by another FReeper because I have my daughter in public school. As if THAT makes any sense.

There are some good folks at FR, but I tend to believe that most of them live right here in the Hole.

The rest are complete a$$holes.

I hear ya. If it weren't for the Hobbit Hole, I'd have walked away after a couple of threads I saw yesterday.

Judgemental high-and-mighty creeps abound.

And I should really avoid threads about jobs and poverty and such right about now. According to many here, anyone who's out of work more than a day deserves whatever happens to them. And no one could possibly be that way without CHOOSING it.

I was shaking mad too, chica.

I struggle too hard every day to keep away from the trap of government assistance to have some jerk tell me that my efforts are ridiculous because I'm already on the government dole by having a child in public school or visiting a park, library, etc.

But then, I realized that he is probably bitter and alone and has little to no happiness in his life.

Made me feel better, as mean as that may sound.

He is the rudest FReeper I've ever come across.

And to think, the whole thing started because I posted to another FReeper that I thought his comment about making six figures not being enough to support children was just silly.
