Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hehehehe....I don't have to go that far back in time! I do quite nicely with my own little database.

Now ... remember, these are computer geeks, so they were probably just as nervous as you!
Second ... What kind of question is "how do you remove a virus?" Do you know what virus it is? Is the user running a virus protection program at all? Which one? When did they last update it? What are the symptoms? Have they transmitted it to floppies yet? Is it a virus, or spyware?
I'l do for you what DaBear does for me ... you did your best, and now it's done.
Was he cute?

What are the symptoms? Have they transmitted it to floppies yet? Is it a virus, or spyware?Heh...yeah. That's why I basically just said, if your antivirus software is up to date, it may find it and clean it...if not, and you know what it is, there are generally removal tips on antivirus sites or geek boards (only I didn't say geek...maybe shoulda. ;-), and I finished off by saying, "In other words, it depends." What else could I say?
Yeah, I think we were all pretty nervous. It just bugs me that there really wasn't much of a chance to talk. I mean...I asked the questions that occurred to me right off and confessed to being happier being an on-the-spot support person rather than a behind the scenes network guru, but that's about it. It wasn't very...chatty. And maybe that's OK, but I gotta wonder. Heh...you know how interviews are! It's so hard to know what really went well.
Was who cute?

Heh heh!! I love it!
I just got *another* email from someone that was part of the support group last year that is not joining the new group this year but coming to BA CHEF!
It's a torrent now.

I suspect it was my dad's idea. The guy said he didn't get his name, but it was a man that called.
You know my dad didn't want to leave. He liked it here, had good friends, was happy. He told the barber so and the barber told me. Even the barber shook his head.
I talk to him pretty frequently via email.

OK, here's a bit of good news, for a change. I got a call from a gal from church who had gotten a call from someone who was on the bus trip to Denver back in July, and who remembered that I'd said I did something with computers. Heh...he didn't remember more than that, but that's OK.
He volunteers with Catholic Charities here, and I guess right now they need a volunteer to just do data entry part time and temporarily, so he thought of me, since I'd mentioned I wasn't currently working. It's nothing complex, but apparently most of the volunteers are older folks and don't really know how to use a computer. It's not a paid deal, of course, but it'd at least give me a sense of purpose! And I'd be happy to help out.
The lady I'd need to talk to isn't in on Tuesdays, so I have to wait until Wednesday to call and see if they still need someone. I hope they do!

Heh...think he'll make a politician? We're thinking attorney.
It's funny. Jr. is the one we thought would be the politician.
We'd take him to restaurants when he was about a year old. He would literally work the room. He would stare at one person 'til they acknowledged him, then he'd move on to the next.

VERY cool!
Volunteering gets you out of the house, and out of yourself! It's good to live for something beyond yourself, even if it's a part-time volunteer gig. And you can put that on your résumé. I dunno about anyone else, but it would favorably impress me!

Wish I didn't have to wait a whole day to call! And I do hope they still need me - if not for that, then for something.
I've thought about volunteering, but wasn't sure where to start. This gives me an in.

I swear, though, that wasn't the *only* reason I took a liking to him!
