The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

He didn't work him long. Too hot.

I may go down to the ranch again tonight. They are going to rope. I could see how the pictures turn out, and you might could lighten them up. Kristy is going to ride her young one too. I will all be after dark When it's cooler.

Is it Lance that we think is poofy? I can't quite remember. Anyway, there really wasn't a theory behind it. It was more "This is what I do. Ta Da!" I believe it was starting a young horse on a lunge (longe) line.

Yikes, what's going on in that last picture? It looks like they're going to fall.

It's just a little dust :~D

Looks like he was doing sliding stops and roll-backs in the pics, right?! Did he have a good ride then?

Did he try your cavaletti?

Well I know at one time he was poofy. He now has a wife and a kid. So i hope he has mended his ways. But the guy that hangs with him, I talked to him, he sounds a bit feminine:\, so who knows.

No he wasn't about to fall. Just working him on the fence to get him to get his butt under himself. he was actually doing very well. Charlie, and Jenny for that matter, just always seem to flow right along with the horse. I love watching them ride.

I'll answer first (and see if I'm right) I think he's doing a roll-back... run down the arena wall, turn into the wall, and run the other way.... like what was happening in the second pic from the top, but he's a second later in the turn.

Oh, no he did not try the cavaletti. I meant to ask him why, but it was hot. Funny how being that hots makes you forget so much.

Your exactly right:)

Doing them on the fence like that forces them on to their butts.

I've been trying to ignore this hoping it might go away:), but I think it's here to stay. This is going up just on the other side of my arena:(. This is what the guy that crowed the other day is working on. Monster of a house isn't it.

In the summer it will be invisible. But in the winter with all the leaves off the trees will have a clear view of it.

This is a very young couple building it. They have been living for the last year in a garage type building. I knew they planned on building a house, I wasn't expecting this. This thing is huge. How can couples that young afford it. Plus they are both driving very new very nice trucks. They have a new Ford tractor, swimming pool, gym set for their two very young kids, not in school yet age, four wheelers he used this winter for hunting. I'm wondering if a horse is on the agenda. They've done alot of clearing at the back, and I can't figure why.
