This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Shaklee Basic H is supposed to be a good wormer for cows. It may work for dogs too. I haven't tried it (since I don't have any cows.)
That was a helpful suggestion seen as Becky doesnt have any cows either! LOL I like your new tag line! LOL : }
Good morning.
Becky
~screams~ Please tell me thats not real!
Morning!
~screams~ It's real! :~D
Good morning everyone!
Hey, any of ya'll know the freeper yellowdoghunter? I just realized that I haven't seen her around in awhile and wondered why she's not posting anymore.
I didn't always agree with her but we could always disagree and still be friends. I found her very easy to discuss things with and I hate it that she's disappeared. Lots of people are gone lately. Shame.
People come and go from forums.... some we know why, most we don't. It's sortof like Watership Down. :~D
I bought that movie for Emma for the summer, she loved it!
Always made me sob my heart out! : )
Is the movie well done? I read the book, but haven't seen the movie.

Sounds like my barn cats.
I like it. It is the old movie that I watched as a kid re-done. Graphics are not the best but it's the story that is timeless. All 3 children watched it and enjoyed it. We got it on DVD. I get a lot of their movies this way through Amazon. Mostly used!
One dvd that I found is called "The biscuit eater". It is made by the same people that made "Old yeller". (Jacobs fav. movie). Worth every penny, the kids really enjoyed it.
We got invited to a ride Saturday at a new place with one of the Back Country Horseman chapters we're thinking about joining. It's a new member intro dinner thing, they ride and then have a steak dinner. I think the ride part is up in private forest land I've never been to before.
Part of me has wanted to join these clubs for a long time, and part of me thinks, now that I'm married up and have a riding partner, I don't need a club any more. I would still be interested in the trail maintenance work parties they do, because I think that's good stewardship, and they will take me to new places I wouldn't know to go to otherwise, but the social aspect of it sortof seems like work.
I'm just having compound bound hermit thoughts, aren't I? Tell me we should just buck up and go mingle with real people.
Is it interesting for adults too? Because the book had some complex ideas and was not a simple kids story.
I haev always loved it. I watched the movie as a 12/13 year old and it has stayed with me. Worth a look!
GOOD LORD THAT'S A BIG HORSE!!! Either that or a tiny person. But he's gorgeous. Thanks!
