This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Can't you just hear this puppy saying, "I want to go live with P2B....?"
LOL! I hope not cause she is already reserved! : ) You can see why I want to keep them all though! Their ears are growing so much faster than the rest of them! LOL I love it when they run around the yard, and their ears are flapping! I MUST take more pics! : D
Isn't that just lovely? So are planning to plant a stand of really-full-and-tall-hedgelike-trees?
Missing your horses? Where are they? I recently sold 4 of mine, a stalion, mare and two colts and I miss them heaps.
So cute. I like the lemon bassets best but of the two I like the darker one best (as far as color goes).
Oh, I've been horseless now for about 3 years. Long icky story involving selling property, divorce, etc.
I've found it somewhat easier to avoid them altogether than to spend time around them and horsepeople. It will probably be 5 years before I will have another
ROFL!
Yikes
Sorry to hear about that..... we are down to two horses now and that is working out just fine. All I need now is to get our puppy population a little lower! LOL It's like a zoo here! : )
Got some more baby chicks coming soon though! : )
Snap, me too and she is just so snuggly! As soon as you pick her up she just snuggles on down and goes to sleep! Anyone would think she was a Basset! LOL Conserving energy is her motto!
Emma says "hi" to everyone, she is on her way to bed and wanted to see the pic of the bunny!
I'm remarried now, and very happy. The kids are established in a new school, and we live in freakin' suburbia.. lol.
We have resolved to stay here until the 2 oldest are out of highschool, which will be about 5 years .. then we'll look at moving out a bit and getting a couple horses..
Something so cute happened this evening. Sarah Lee will walk beside me without contact, circles and all. Anyway, I was going to walk around the round pen. As we got closer, she got slower. Right before we got to the gate she looked at it like "I don't think so". She made a sharp right and high tailed it to the barn. All I could do was follow and yell loose horse in the barn. She slowed once she was in the barn though and kept looking right. When she got to the middle she walked up to the tieing pole we always use and put her head in a tied postion and looked at me like "can we groom instead"?
Night Emma. I like the cap:')
Congrats on getting married and being happy! My life got turned upside down, but through widowhood not divorce. I am now happily married again to "deaconjim" and love America! We have 3 kids.
Our place was like yours we had 6 horses, 30 chickens, 5 dogs 3 cats (a new litter), 1 goat and 3 rabbits.
We are down to 2 horses, 3 chickens (soon to go up), 3 rabbits, 1 goat, 3 cats, one pregnant, 5 dogs and 13 puppies!~
It feels kind of quiet around here!
Well I'm a happy camper now too. My horses went to a place in the country and I only had visitation every other weekend. I have one back now and working on the other. People said I wasn't "happy":')
I laughed and then took her back out and we walked it about 10 times until she didn't drift or hesitate. After she saw we weren't lunging she was ok. I guess I should have done that too but it wasn't the plan because I don't have a halter. Then I let her eat grass. Hopefully her sides will be ok and I can ride Thur. Only one seemed tender still. Anyway, I'm getting back in a routine and starting my lessons back Monday.
Sounds like you two have some catching up to do! I am glad that she is near you again, who knows what the future will bring. It didnt work out this time, but that maybe because God had other plans! Better plans! : )
Well I am going to log off early.... we have a storm here so i need to shut down. I wish everyone a quiet and relaxing evening. G'night!~ : )
