This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Deaconjim says that should read Rotton Groton... : D
I'm with you on weather, though I think the Ozarks are still too hot for me, at least there's an end to it. I think WA is about perfect for me!
On vacation we started in GA then went to TN, AR, OK, KS, MO, MS, AL then back to GA!~
LOL! That kinda reminds me of the time John Kerry came down to south Alabama and saw a young DU-er struggling frantically to free himself from the jaws of a twelve-foot alligator when two locals drove up in a 4x4 and blasted the 'gator in the head with a shotgun. They freed the man from the 'gator's jaws, bundled the semi-conscious man into the truck and prepared for a hasty retreat when they saw John Kerry come running over. After shaking their hands and congratulating them on their honor and bravery, he drove off in a cloud of dust. The first man looked at the second and asked "Who was that?". "That was John Kerry, Democratic candidate for President" answered the second man. To which the first man replied "Well, he don't know squat about 'gator hunting. How's that bait holding up, or do we need to go get another one?" ;o)
It sounds pretty perfect to me too! My fav. place that we have been is MO. The property has a clear water creek running alongside that has over 6ft deep swimming hole, so when it gets hot...we have a place to go! : D
The swimming hole sounds wonderful. You could even take the horses down there and swim with them. I love to do that.
We're suppose to be back in the 100's here today. That is too hot even for me, but those high of temps don't last that long around here.
I stopped on the way thru town today and got me some stuff to plant in my garden. I didn't like my garden that much this year, so last week I dug alot of stuff up and moved it or threw it out, now I'm trying to put some stuff in that will come back every year. Hibiscus, mums, daylillies. I'm trying to get it planted, but it's so hot I'm having to plant a few then come in and cool off.

Groton Conn, and Saratoga Springs. That's his problem. Those are terrible places to live! Ugh! Northern Maine is where I want to end up. I love Boston for the history, and I love the Cape, but I really really love Maine and New Hampshire.
Hibiscus live through the winter where you live?! We gotta bring 'em inside or they'll freeze.
Hehe. I've heard that one. :-) I'm embarassed that John Kerry came from Ma. He just made me sit back and say "Wow." He was just a terrible candidate all around, politics aside.
ROFL You are SO Bad~ : D
LOL....I was just telling my husband that I learned something yesterday by accident and it hacks me off that no one tells you. I asked at several places if they live thru the winter, everyone said yes. But when I was asking about different colors I was told that there are two varieties of hibiscus. Hardy and Tropical. The hardy will make it thru the winter, but the tropical won't, and the funny thing is that MOST of the hibiscus for sale in the stores is tropical. The tropical have a bigger varity of color. But the sales people in the stores don't tell you that. I wonder how many people have planted them and thought they just weren't good at growing them when in reality the had the wrong type.
When you see the two varities together there is a big difference in appearance altho the flower looks the same.

Here's the worst part of the field I'm mowing... The cars that drive by look at me a little peculiar... I think I should put up a sign that says, "Yes, I'm nuts, I know I should have a tractor... This mower is all I've got"
LOL! Yeah, that one was a real groaner but I couldn't resist. It actually started out as an Alabama/Auburn joke and it just seemed to fit the bill with a few tweaks here and there. ;o)
All my roses are still blooming! I do have LOTS of weeds and grass in my flower bed and it is too hot to even think about going out there! I need too, because i need to take a pretty photo of our house for selling it. : )
I think you are brave to garden in this weather!
Well! I didn't know there were two different kinds either. I just assumed that they were all tropical. I'll have to keep an eye out now to see if I see any of the hardy variety. Thanks!
it looks a lot like my yard! Do the horses stay in there while you mow?
Your guest looks so lonesome........... I am glad she has settled down a lot. : )
That's what I've been thinkin' all this time! ;o)
Oh well, just think of it as your stair-stepper and treadmill all rolled into one, and you don't even have to pay a health club membership dues.
