Heartache
It’s a bloody great dark hole
through the middle of a torn soul,
and it hurts like time will never end.
Confusion adds it own,
and hurts right to the bone,
and you’re not sure it’ll ever mend.
Every word seems a barbed arrow cruel
and looks sets fear and love to endless duel,
making it hard to tell dark foe from friend.
Until you either sink or swim once again,
in shining light or dark of night, peace or pain,
and hope the only one to salve and tend.
