We've all done it. You've just gotten home, logged on to FR, and are scrolling down the "Latest Posts" page, deciding which thread will get your attention this evening, when THAT SCREENNAME jumps out at you in a "to" or "from" position. You are powerless to resist; if THAT GUY's there, it's gonna be a good thread...
All of us have our own "favorites" among the many colorful souls who congregate at this fine website. They could be someone you disagree totally with, agree completely with, or somewhere in between. They might be a fount of useful information, links, and facts. Our favorite might be devastating at the art of debate; demolishing opponents in truly unique style, or he might be just plain nuttier than squirrel dung, but fun nonetheless.
Perhaps your favorite FReeper has a way with words; an excellent writer. Maybe they are someone highly experienced in a particular field, with knowledge that many do not posess. Maybe they're dumber than a bag of hammers.
Point is, no matter what the reason, our "favorite FReepers"' handle attached to a thread makes it all the more interesting to us; it guarantees a wild ride or sublime pleasure in the reading and learning. It may also guarantee an increase in blood pressure and indigestion, but one thing's for sure...that thread HE's on is gonna get a hit or two, and it won't be boring.
I've got more than a few of my own, and I'm sure all of you do as well. WHO'S YOURS?????????????????
This is a VW, so it speaks in vienerschnitzel.
I may be able to motivate the car to work by spouting fast worded rhetoric and gutteral growling punctuated with a few belches, but I'm not sure what the thing would be motivated to do.
Sadly, the repair manual that would show me which wires to look at closely is in the back of my father's car -which is down at the repair shop getting a tow-hitch stuck on it.
*snort*
Look for the burned wires
I know the area to look, but it is under the battery tray.
*GRRR*
The wiring harness is routed under the battery tray, there.
Grabbing the manual would give me a clue as to which wires fried and which one I may need to be very careful of.
(Besides which, to get at them I need to tear the nose completely apart. I will need the book for that too, it tells me how to get the nose apart without breaking things.)
"Wit, humor and incontinence causers:"
Incontinence?? *frowns*
If I knew what that meant I might be offended lol
Morning Miss ;)
Semper Fi
I wish! LOL! No, those are from Art Wolfe, he's one of my favorite photographers and those are just a couple of my favorites. I don't really have any of mine on-line, because I'm the one person in America still using a film SLR (the digital ones are just too expensive for me right now) and our scanner is very elderly.
I'm still learning about photography and trying to work up the nerve to actually enter some in the county fair next month. Silly to be nervous, I know, but I've never entered any sort of photography contest before.
VW? Isn't that the Fartfignewton car?
Yup, it's the farfromnewgan car.
The 1994 year was the first year of VW that I couldn't work on due to the wiring being weird, and the electronic gunk.
The 1995 is worse.
Sell the Nazimobile. Is yours the Adolph LX model?
Nope, just the standard GlauLaben model.
I liked it, it did handle nice.
But when minor things go wrong on it, due to the design changes, I cannot work on it myself.
I could change teh spark plugs on my Golf among a million other minor things.
The 95, well.. the fuel rail covers all teh spark plugs and air intake horn covers two of the spark plugs.
Not to mention nice engine compartment crispified wiring right there that is brittle due to engine heat.
These are the wiores for the fuel injectors.
;-)
Of course, all the car manufacturers are churning out cars that are insanely difficult for the buyer to work on these days.
Ditto!
Thnak you. You're one of my favorites, too. My keyboard is in danger from flying coffee every time I read one of your posts.
My 02 Ford Ranger with V6 is a piece of cake to work on. I can change the plugs in 10 minutes.
Sweet.
Eveyone who owns such a truck around here isn't giving them up.
They're driving them into the dirt.
Found a live one by the way.
Where is the live one?
Izzy Dunne is a question I was asking daily about Billy Jeff Clinton whan I joined FR.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/user-posts?id=186749
So far he's insulted Diva Betsy Ross, txradioguy, Mrs.Nooseman, Jet Jaguar, myself, and anyone else who has wandered into his path.
He has contradicted hismelf, and when called on it he says 'prove it'.
*sigh*
Thanks a bunch retro, you're too kind.
Peeking back in from work. Yes, plus we get to sit with The Cool Kids on the bus. Life is always about where you sit. Save a seat for me in the cafeteria, would you?
You have made the only reference to mummenchantz I've ever seen on FR. There was no way I couldn't include you! LMAO
Very interesting. Sort of wondered where that came from. I was afraid it was a cartoon character or something so I didn't ask. I like your reason better.
Happy FReeping!
