Dennis wants to share the loooove. *grin*
I think we're all thinking along those lines, Rick.
What do you think about the idea for a Hobbit Hole knife thread/button?
We could make it pocket-knife specific - both for donations and requests.
Excellent list, Ruthy! Thanks!
No sweat! I love to talk about ice cream. *smile*
gee... that's... too bad...
I got it linked!!! (Babbling Brooks section)
Not sure how much free space I have on my site. Vervehosting has a weird setup, and they are using blogware that is really really nice and stable, but is also lacking in some organizational and support features that can be very frustrating at times. It does however, have a photo-blog feature that I havent really explored, because I don't take a whole lot of pictures (although I would like to). I can play around with it in the next couple of weeks, but if you need something sooner, then you might just check out the Verve Hosting blog stuff.
I willingly maxed out one credit card to cover our regular folding knives. The sheath knives maxed out a second credit card. It will take me about a year to pay that one off, but I did it with full knowledge of the situation. I'm grateful for what little good we've done in the time we've had. I think Gandalf said something like that once.
The only bitterness I have is that we are giving away the exact same items that the government taxed us for. But whether it can not, or will not, get those items into the hands of the troops that need them, we have duplicated, on a small scale, that which we've already been taxed to provide.
I fully expect to see those government knives sold off as surplus for pennies on the dollar some day. Those knives should be issued as regular equipment, which is their intended purpose. The troops deserve better than to get them from us as gifts, and so does the taxpayer.
Oh, the sarcasm...the sarcasm!
All the things you mentioned are true. In addition to that, increased visibility brings the risk that we could get the entire operation shut down. Our "products" are quite legitimate, but I can guarantee you we are in violation of some obscure post office, customs, or military regulation with each package we send. I already get suspicious looks from some post office clerks about descriptions like "pocket tool" and "utility knife".
Our project hasn't been secret, but it hasn't called attention to itself, either.
OK - well, lets think, and ALL send money, for now, and see how it goes.... the best thing will work itself out if we work it.
Thank you g'nad..... IT REALLY WAS!
~rolls eyes~
Nope, that must be the resolution on your screen. The dress and the tux in that picture are white.
Decided against mowing. Got my 'maters staked...they're looking good and I hope they wait 'til I get back to ripen. I put out some fertilizer and watered all the plants....put out some cat fur as well.
Miss Cat got to the vets on time.....I miss her! *sniff*
Dangit Rick, we ought to do something about that. Freepmail me the facts you have. My Senator John Warner (formerly Mr. Elizabeth Taylor) chairs the Senate Armed Services Committee.
He's a RINO, but he does answer constituent mail. It's worth a shot. (And if I dig hard enough, I probably know some of his staffers)
BTW Corin.... that hideous dress and the tux are both pink ;~D
Nope, I got that thru email (my b-i-l sent me a series of bad prom pictures).
Full size, you can see it's white and the dress has accents of gold.
Sigh.
Well, she didn't buy tooo hideously expensive a dress. And it was lovely. But it's a rather overwhelming thing.
I think when I get married I'll find the used wedding dress shop and see what I can do.
You know, I just saw the thread where they evacuated Birmingham, England.
I wish the President and Tony Blair would just come out and say "we're gonna nuke one Muslim city every day until you turn over all the terrorists."
A dwarf can dream, can't he?
Sigh.
Or something. Don't think I could get on board with wholesale nuking, not when we've got smart bombs that can take out exactly what we want to take out. Like, say, the opulent palaces of the rulers of the region.
