The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Maybe what you need for the balloon thing is immersion therapy. It worked for me and spiders. I've always had an uncontrollable revulsion to spiders... until some years ago when I spent a weekend at a friends cabin. That place was *thick* with spiders everywhere. I mean millions of the little devils. So thick they made the floor crunchy... I slept on a couch that probly had hundreds crawling over my sleeping bag all night. They'd just fall outta trees onto your head... by the hundreds they fell like rain.

After that, I still don't like 'em much... but *nothing* will ever approach that level of creepiness again.

:-)

Now... all we need is a room full'o balloons...

They're great!

But I can't stand standing there listening to the twisting, squeaking, rubbing sounds as they're made.

Like nails on a chalkboard!

*shudder*

I don't like 'em much either. I'm not terrified of ballons...but that sound...and the act of blowing 'em up...are two things I really don't care to be around.

See then? I'm not so weird.

I had to sit in my car with both girls twisting and playing around with some balloon animals they got.

It's was nerve-wracking!

Yup. Everything but the shutters!

We're lucky with Dennis (so far). Let's hope that luck holds out like it did last year.

My mom and I sat down earlier to discuss our game plan should a Cat 3+ storm head towards Miami.

We're going to flee! :-D
