The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Yeah - a couple years ago now one touched down on this side of the mountains, took out one old barn and petered out. We don't even get really good thunderstorms often here.
Saw a funnel cloud that never touched down, one time in Eastern WA, which is flat ag land, and hotter.... They'd be much more probable there but they're still very rare. We used to chase thunderstorms in college, just to watch the lightning. :~D

LOL - I read right past it without noticing the extra ten states till you mentioned it.... Good attention to detail from both of us. ;~D

Steve is obviously off line or he would have commented about my typo before I had a chance to do so.

I have successfully navigated aeroports and baggage claims and am back at my waterin' hole. [sigh] Need a weekend.

Well, the convenient part of that is that it ~is~ the weekend now. ecurbh is on the couch. He got nappish a bit ago.
Today we replaced some of the moldy green old electric tape with new clean white tape... which Cyn found fascinating.

She's inspecting the rest of the fence... trying to figure out how it all works... "Hey... I don't think this thing is even is on!"

In time, even this event lost it's appeal.

She's such a strange horse.... she'll drop and roll right at your feet.
To: Ramius
You can say that again ;~D

Beautiful!
You know, I've never been to the Grand Canyon, and I've been there many times.... Heck... I was born in Arizona (moved to Babylonia).
To: HairOfTheDog
I remembered that lyric wrong, didn't I?
It was "born in California", wasn't it?
I guess I can't use it.

I was right the first time!? :~D
Thanks!

When I typed it I thought it ran a bell, then I started doubting myself ;~D

You came right through our area, then - we're north of Denver, not too far south of the WY border.
One of these days I want to take a few weeks to visit New Mexico and Arizona...maybe some of Utah. It's a part of the country I'm totally unfamiliar with.
