Well, I threw out everything but an unopened bag of salmon steaks, the Schwann chicken breasts (individually vacuum wrapped) and the polish sausages. They weren't leaking anything and were rather cool to the touch. I'll let Steve decide with those.
The others were just packages of meat like you get at the grocery store, some stuffed peppers, some pot pies and some tilapia. The packages of meat were iffy in the first place and are positively black.
Better go out there with a bunch of towels...
How good is Steve at freezer repair?
I dunno! I guess we'll find out! I just got off the phone with him...he said he'd look at it tonight. He said if it's a dud, it's best to find out now when our only loss is possibly $30 worth of Schwann meat (the other meat and stuff came with the freezer) instead of after we bought the lamb this fall.
I'm hopeful about the Schwann stuff...it was just room temp on the outside of the box it was in, but cool on the inside...I guess the cardboard box acted like insulation.
Also, a thing of cookie dough in door was also cool to the touch...I'm gonna go ahead and bake them up.
Evenin' folkses... :-)
2J... got any potluck picnics coming up? I'm thinkin' maybe a chicken salad... :-)
I myself would use the sniff test.
Heh heh!!
I dunno what's the deal...it's just pouring water out from behind a panel in the back of the thing...at the back of the inside, you know? There's a panel back there and water looks to be melting and running out into the bottom of the freezer.
I'm fixin' tuh look for an owner's manual online or something...it's real old, but who knows?
I guess it didn't like the red paint.
Oh man, 2J! That's horrible.
At least it broke before you had it stuffed with meat. $30 is a bit to lose, but not as bad as it would have been further on down the road.
That's exactly right.
I'm counting my blessings, sis...one by one! Just gave the jedis some ice cream that we had just bought and Matthew had put it in the broke freezer...when I went out to get a couple of chicken breasts, I noticed it not working and was able to get that ice cream out before it melted at all.
Now I'm just trying to convince myself that I'm mighty enough to move it away from the wall and get the model number! Amana has owners manuals online in pdf format...
Inch it forward one side at a time.
Be careful with that thing, 2J!
I didn't have to move it...it was in the front under the grill at the bottom. It's too dark for me to see it though...so I'm gonna get a candle or flashlight.
Thank goodness for small favors.
On a different subject, I spent an hour during lunch looking at the vacation rentals website.
There are some ~really~ beautiful places in Colorado.
I saw one place that sleeps 20! Had 6 or 7 bedrooms!
The one thing I discovered is that summer is practically the MOST affordable time to rent those places. Even the huge places were in the Moot price range. :-D
Can you tell how much I wish I was at ShootMoot last weekend? *sigh*
Kids are up again. Time to kick some butt.
Back in a bit....
I would have dearly loved to have seen you!
Well, the Amana site didn't have my particular model to download. Too old, I imagine. Then I remembered my dad gave me a bunch of paperwork and sure enough, there was the manual!
Now if I could just find my reading glasses! LOL
