My husband is a mechanic and I asked him about your gas gauge problem and he didn't think $82 was unreasonable to diagnose it. He said it could be a number of problems and it takes time to figure out what is wrong with it. Just my two cents.

I never know if I am being given a fair price or the woman price, lol... you and he may be right... the question then becomes whether having the gas gauge fixed is worth a couple hundred dollars... I guess it probably is, but I had a prior car where it was busted too.... and got along nicely by refilling based on mileage.
