I don't believe this bike trail was ever anything but a bike trail. Like I've been saying all the towns around here have gotten together and have been putting in bike trails all over, along the river, and along the side of alot of the epressways. They are all very pretty, and there are spurs off the trails that take you thru alot of the parks.
About that memorial....boy this could get me flamed:)....but I have mixed emotions about that sort of thing. There is a plaque on the other side of the beam that gives the names of the people "that made this memorial possible". I don't care for that sort of thing. It should have been the names of the people that were killed that had relatives in this area, or no other plaque at all. I don't think we should ever forget about 9-11, but I think this memorial is rather morbid, and some people are just tooting their own horns, at the expense of others very tragic deaths. Bixby could be a nice little town, but the people in charge are sooooo corrupt, the goverment here is a cesspool.

I don't think you're wrong for feeling that way...
It is true that many people make charitable contributions hoping that others will see them doing it. I understand that emotion, and in my work, we often give credit for donations in any publicity.... But I can see it as downright tacky when they want their names right on the thing.
Preach it, sis...I agree with the city government business. What gets me about that park is that it seems to be actually "owned" by a few individuals in town and they decide what is going in it. The person that decided to put that doofy pancake flat house in there oughta have their head examined, imo. Can't you just see some ritzy person coming up with this "brilliant" idea and all the people that want to look good socially around that person saying "Oh yes! Oh yes!"
We use the park, but when we do I always wonder who's been kissin' who's what for the stuff that's been done to it. Kinda makes me chuckle. They can afford to do doofy stuff to the park, but can't afford to scrape the snow off the streets or give us water that isn't brown and doesn't have to have a notice sent out that it's contaminated.
(I like the piece of the WTC though...I show it to the jedis and we remember. But I agree...the plaque is tacky.)
