*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

She competed with him in dressage... crossing both the spotted horse barrier and the pony barrier mingling with all those big brown warmbloods!

Yes, but they are a bit bored. They swim everyday, play video games, read some, not much tv but a little and they play outside when the sun goes down. Too blasted hot in the middle of the afternoon. I think I'll go to the store and get a slip n slide or something.

We got a slip and slide, as it is so hot here too, but the kids end up really bruised from it. The best thing that they play with other than in the pool is the garden sprinkler. It's just a cheap one from Target, but they love it! : D

Same as you, and ours are getting cabin fever too! We head out this weekend to a family reunion and then are off in a month on vacation for 2 weeks.
I plan to get the homeschooling work set up pretty soon and start them on it. They love to draw, playdough and paint toilet roll cardboards. Emma loves to read.
Wish we lived closer then we could let them play together! : D

"Wish we lived closer then we could let them play together! : D"

Wouldn't that be great? It's hard to find people with the same values and I think our families would be a match.

My kids used to decorate toilet roll cardboards! I forgot all about that.

Another thing that really makes them happy is a treasure hunt. I make up riddles. The first one that they guess, takes them to the second one and so on.............the last riddle (usually no. 10) has a note to come in for ice-cream treat or has candy or a new board game or something.
It just passes the hours............

remember the prized robots made out of every empty packet you could lay your hands on with glue and sequins and paint and string all over? A mess but fun!

That's a great idea! I do a treasure hunt at easter since all but one of my kids are a little old for egg hunts. I hide hints in lots of different places and they have to go from hint to hint and figure out where the next one is. The treasure is a tub full of cheap easter toys and candy. I don't know why I didn't think of doing it for a summer activity. I could put coloring books and crayons, play dough, small toys, etc in it.

I owe ya one, Sharn.

Another thing that I do, is that whilst Tommy (3) is busy playing with his trains or something, I teach Emma and Jacob to cook. In fact Emma made the supper tonight and yesterday all by herself. : )
