*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

This is as close as I could get. Some cows started coming over and I know very little about cows.

Last one:') My BIL offered us 10 more acres so we will have 24. He is building this cabin and will live in it awhile but selling it with the extra 10 acres.

Oh what a beautiful property! What a find! Thanks for posting the pics. our foals look a little like the one you saw, still shedding, what is a surprise is that Thunder is nearly smooth now, whereas Adge still has some shedding to do and he is a month older!
Posting this I really must get some pics but I have been outside working all day and have blisters and am exhausted. It is so hot and muggy here.
When do you plan to take your horses to their new home? It looks a wonderful place to camp or eventually build!
Deaconjim has pulled 12 hr day shifts all weekend so I have had to keep the kids happy and busy. Phew! It has been on and off stormy and the flies are bothersome.

Scrolling back looking for something I saw your dog pictures again, I just love that. They look so happy, and goofy:) The one on the left with her ears flying up:) That has to be a classic shot, I'd have to have it printed and framed.

It's town of 795. Well, 797 now:'). I think everyone of them own horses too. I did not pass any homes without horses. My BIL stated I will have all the horse people and activities around that I want.

It's an old pic but a classic Basset hound look! Those ears now drag on the ground LOL! I love it too and haden't thought about getting it framed but it's a great idea.
Harvey looks very pretty all bathed and groomed. Ours are a mess right now. I can't wait till deaconjim has 5 mins here to actually get some jobs done. : )
When is your trip?

No, I just lurk and I don't have any horses now. When I retire in a few years, I am thinking that I might want to buy a ranch.

Magic! I just hope and pray that it will work out that you can actually build and move there. What a place for the grandchildren to play! : )

Have your horses made a 6 hr trip before? Are you going to give them anything to help keep the quiet and calm? You must be getting excited!
If it were me, I would be already packed! LOL

We did a lot of mental work:') There is an area beside the cabin that is fenced on 3 sides. We are going to fix that up and put them in there and gradually start turning them out longer periods. Their feed bucket will be in there and we are going to set the water up so they can get to it on both sides.

I've made 6 hour trips with horses before, not with these 3. I am considering giving everyone a dose of Maalox, but other then that they won't need anything. It will be a good experience for them. We are using a really nice big roomy trailer, so they will be traveling first class:)

Don't stomp your feet, get a walking stick/staff. Shepards have carried them for hundreds of years. It is a necessity for walks or puttering around the barn. I keep a couple at the barn and one in the truck at all times. : )

When I was small, two of my Uncles had dairy farms with lots of barn cats. As I became old enough to walk and carry a cat, my Uncles made sure my arms were full after each visit. I had the scratches to prove it........ : )
