This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
It just depends on the reason it doesn't fit. They may take it back if the pad is the wrong one. The fact that you've used an underpad might have kept the new one clean enough. Glad you have a good shop to go to. It makes all the difference when you want custom fitting done.
bumping my post test.
I saw your test post for awhile but now it is gone:). This thing is really screwed up.
Becky
And now its' back:)

Replying from my comments when the post is hanging, seemed to kind of force the hanging post in.... It's a theory anyway :~D
I just called the saddle shop. The owner who is the one that will need to check it hasn't made it in this morning. They will call back when they find him.

4506 has been hanging 10 minutes bump test.
It sounds like the tree is too narrow for him with the new thicker pad and underpad. It's kinda like having shoes that just fit, then adding a couple pairs of real thick socks. They don't pad anymore, they just make everything pinch. Hopefully the saddle people can get you straightened out without you having to buy a new saddle for him.
Frog I read your post awhile ago, but then it just disappeared:)
I just find it hard to believe that this saddle could be to small for him, even with the pads. I've always thought he was narrower then Belle, and it was built for her.
I'm taking him to the ranch tonight (saddle shop), and the saddle guy is going to look at it. So I guess no riding this morning, altho it is now afternoon, I just noticed:)
I've discovered a new solitare type game that is mind numbing....and I've been in a coma all morning moving cards around waiting on the call:) Time to get up and do something.
Becky
Well, if it's too wide for him, it would also sit wrong on him and sore him.... All of them have different backs, and horses are so stoic it's sometimes hard to tell if it's got a comfortable fit. Good luck with the saddle guy, hope he can get you a good fit.
push...
I would have went with it being too big if anything. That's why when they recommend two pads I didn't think that would be a problem and might actually work better. Even with my old wore out pad it tended to roll it seemed. The first day I rode him with the new pads it was even worse, but I first thought it was because the pads were new. But those dry spots really bother me and I think warrent haveing it checked by someone who knows. I know soreing up a horses back can really screw them up for riding. Can't says I blame them either.

push
Does this work:)?
Becky
Oh my gosh it did:)
Becky
For whatever reason it does seem to work ;~D
Agreed on having it checked out. The horse can't tell you.
Push - I bet my reply shows up now, even if this one disappears again ;~D
Dang.... mine didn't work. Pushing again.
Have you seen a thread about this issue? I'd like to read up and maybe report this. See if they're working on it.
Hi everyone, we have been busy getting all the jobs done around the place to make it easier on my friend when she comes to feed all my animals! (19 dogs, 3 rabbits, 3 cats, 4 chickens, 1 goat and 2 horses!) I have also just finished building a new rabbit hutch!
The problems with posting I noticed about 3 days ago. When you were all talking about it 2 days ago, i didnt have a problem, so we'll see if this takes forever, or stays in limbo or not! : )
note: posted as fast as ever! : )
