The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread SIX

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

...catch and kill 2 guacamole's...

LOL!! I know it's corny, but I like stupid jokes like that. Mack sounds like my kinda guy.

...I kind of like the worn look:), gives it character, lots of stories go with it...

Hey, I can go along with that. If you like it, that's all that matters. :o)

You bet I am...it's been a long haul. He's been going to school for about 5 years now.

My boys know her as "the lady that came by for lunch." She dropped by one afternoon and we had turkey sandwiches and visited for a long time!

It's storming hard in my part of town...

LOL:)

We always get it just a little after you do, the wind has really picked up and there is a coolness in it that feels great.

...he's in the final weeks of writing his thesis...

Well, then we know you haven't been seeing much of him lately. My SIL is working on her Masters in Education and she hardly has time to raise her head up out of a book. I know your whole family will breathe a sigh of relief when it's over and hopefully all that hard work will pay off with a great job in an even greater location. Good luck to ya!

You're right...we hardly see him. I let my boys stay up late at night to see him for a while when he comes in.

I hang out mostly in the Hobbit Hole and they've gone through a lot of this with me, keeping me company and listening when I was frustrated. It's been great having them around.

I like well worn saddles and boots :) Seems it makes cowboys take me more seriously. Clean but worn :)

Sharn, just click on her name, when she replys. That takes you to her about page, and says where she is from. Plus, it's a very nice about page! I love the picture of you holding the chicken while on the PC...lol

It should have been the names of the people that were killed that had relatives in this area, or no other plaque at all. I don't think we should ever forget about 9-11, but I think this memorial is rather morbid, and some people are just tooting their own horns, at the expense of others very tragic deaths.

No, I agree with you 100%.

Hey, I was looking at your "About" page and noticed that you said that you like to play the penny whistle. I do as well. It's my favorite pastime.

That's Benny Hen. She really is a sweet pet chicken. And she lays almost every day.

Her counterpart is Puffy...the other Buff Orpington. Puffy is mean and has only laid one egg in a month. She's soup this weekend.

I don't devote as much time to it as I should, but I really do love it. My kids don't care about it one way or another and my husband absolutely hates it...so I don't get a lot of requests.

I like to go to a local beer joint and listen to a couple of my friends play though...

Whistle playing is really wonderful. My favorites are Burkes, and I treat myself to a new whistle from him when I can. And it's just that. A Treat. Coplands are lovely, but far too expensive.

I bought these really nice boots when I started riding. They look like crsp now:') I've switched to lace up ones though caz I can't stand feeling like I'm stuck in them.

I feel so bad. Last night my plans got screwed up on me and I didn't go to the ranch to ride. So I rode here. I had shut the back gate of the arena to keep Rusty out while I rode. I forgot to open it back up. I feed last night, he saw me dump it in his bucket, but he couldn't get in to eat it. I could hear him moving around back there, so I thought he was just being slow about coming up. Poor guy.
