This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Wow - great report, and you accomplished all that with a hurricane coming!
Great the Bob did well. I assume there's pictures coming and you just forgot to post them, right? :~D
This squall is over now, but it was very dramatic!
I got the meat chickens in and back into their tote...put the heat lamp on 'em and they're preening. I don't want 'em getting sick here just a few days before Sunday Dinner!
Do you not age chicken for some time after butchering like other meat?
Supposed to cool them in the fridge for 24 hours, I believe, before cooking or freezing.
I know some people just butcher 'em then cook and eat them, like fish, I guess.
We're going to do the deed Sat. morning and then probably have them for dinner Sunday evening.
Noooooo, I just forgot. I was too busy watching I guess.
{ducks and covers}
Ah - well venison and beef is aged a week or two... I didn't know what happened with chicken.
Not good enough! Not nearly good enough! :~o
I'm heading home...talk to ya later...
Well... Does he have huevos?
I'm packed and ready. The house is clean and the clothes done. It's going to stay that way too. Everybody staying out of Momma's way:')
It rained here today too. We have a high roof at my job with lots of skylights. It sounded very dramtic:')
Thanks for the link. I printed it out to add to my collection of horse color/genetics papers. Hopefully, one of these days, I'll be able to pinpoint colors like Tuffy's without a doubt :)
Be Careful. I don't want you in stitches right before your vacation.
I am so glad, it was not too bad for you. Hope Cav was the same.
Becky
Oh jeepers! Those trees will die.
Does she have any wood posts or barn walls that are eaten too? or just these trees?
Have you heard from Cav, Frog?
Oh yeah, I know they will die. She does have a stall with wooden slat sides. I didn't notice that any of them had been chewed on. There were two trees out there that you could tell had the bark ate off at least a year ago, the rest, I counted 12 had all been done recently. They trees all had green leaves and the exposed trucks looked fresh. There were several trees you could tell they were just getting started on.
Her horses are kept in this run at night, but during the day they are turned out in another area where they is a round bale, and some grazing. They are feed gain twice a day. I can't figure out why they would suddenly be doing this.
Becky
