*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Yes he has curly ears! He is not a true blood though, he has some australian shepherd in him, which is why he is doing so well with the whistle training that sally knows. : )

The main breed in him is English setter but like I have said, he has at least australian shepherd in him too, I saw mom and Dad and Dad was a mixture! He is very good though. He was FREE which helped my case against deaconjim not wanting me to get him! LOL

Free always helps! Those are the best kind of dogs most of the time.

She sure was. Sweet and loyal - but a voracious eater! LOL!

I don't have a pic uploaded since she passed away years ago. I'll see if I can scan one and get it posted.

He has the curly ears and is the exact same color as my friend in Englands English setter but that is about it. He has a loving personality..........sometimes too loving! LOL
I love the pic of yours. I have never seen one that color before! : )

hehehehe...

She was a bit sneaky too, I'll admit.

She'd look at ya with those soulful eyes and as soon as your back was turned, she'd gobble up whatever goodies you'd left to close to the edge of the table/countertop/dresser (usually in one gulp).

You'd turn back around and she'd still have that innocent look on her face, but the absent-minded licking of her chops gave her away.

Yeah, I saw that post. Cool move there!

I love the pic of yours. I have never seen one that color before!

That color is called "Orange Belton". Both the setters I had were this color. Here's some others from the English Setter Assoc. of America...

This last dog is closer to "Liver Belton" to me.

I love Bassets! They're so cute. I think the cutest dog I ever saw was a Basset/Chocolate Lab mix. He was absolutely adorable. He looked like a Chocolate Lab with short legs. So funny!

Is their hair supposed to be combed that way? Makes them look very fat. At first I thought their heads were photoshopped onto a different body. This, my friends, this is a good looking dog.

Yessireebob. Those people work very hard to keep that hair that way!

I thought their heads were photoshopped onto a different body.

Actually, they are photoshopped, just not onto another body. Otherwise you'd see the handler's fist under their chins taking up all the slack in their neck skin.

This, my friends, this is a good looking dog.

I saw that dog! Didn't he win the Ugliest Dog competition or something? He looks like something out of LOTR!

Actually, upon second thought, he looks like something out of Gremlins. You know, the transformation they made when they got to eat after midnight.
