*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Do you do anything special for Bob? Uh, is Bob a horse or a human?

"Would it work to go get him each time and put him back in and not let him have the feed until he walks?"

I almost did that last night, I was so mad. I was stomping to his stall, ready to jerk him away from his feed, but something stopped me.

Next time you need to have someone else with you, who has the camera!

It's a neat moment for sure. I've had it happen a few times with Bay that I've gotten pictures of. The first time, something was very wrong. He was sick with colic and did need help, the other time, they were just nappin' and didn't feel the need to get up. So it's good to wonder!

BTW, I'm in a rather dangerous spot in the above pic, if he were to try to get up suddenly, especially because I'm in a closed space... better to approach them on the side away from the feet if you are going to come in close. He was so sick here he wasn't making any attempt to get up, at least not quickly, but I wouldn't recommend being where I am above ;~D

All the foals are doing great. AND they are all for sale. Unfortunately, I get people calling and emailing wanting to sell me horses, not buy mine.

Got another email yesterday from a lady whose daughter has a 6yr appy mare for sale :)

My BIL has one of the 4 door ones that can convert to a tent. Nice. Lots of room but not too big.

:) Bob is my husband, sometimes I'm not sure if he's human. When he gets that way, I hand him something sweet and insist that he shut up, sit down, and eat. Start with orange juice or a piece of candy.

I'm going to assume that Bob is human.... She could tell a horse that but he probably wouldn't listen.

All this time she was talking about "Bob the Biter" I assumed it was a horse. Hubby likes to bite, eh?

I'm kidding, by the way, I know Bob the Biter belongs to someone else.

Heh... I am wearing a wrist brace in both pics aren't I?

I used to suffer from carpul tunnel symptoms in my right hand, and through wearing the brace a lot for a couple years, I've pretty much cured it. I no longer wear a brace as much, though sometimes I think I should. Even though I've built myself a good ergonomic system here, if I'm at the computer too much I feel it.

Well, if you sell all the foals, you could pick up the mare and still be ahead, right?
