*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Beautiful flowers. I see you have your glads staked. Good idea. So, sad when they fall over from those heavy blooms.

When you opened up your back pasture, do the horses still have access to the rest? Or do you fence it off, to let the rest of the pasture regrow?

Ours is starting to get ate down pretty good too. We have really not had much rain in a few weeks. Our County Fair is next week, usually that will bring a monsoon.

The girls out enjoying themselves.

Yeah, I've tried everything trying to keep glads standing. Tying them up to the fence has been the best. I've got them growing all over the garden and had to cut some the other day. They fell over in the rain we had on the 4th. But their pretty in a vase and last along time.

Pretty picture!

I close off the front pasture so I rotate between the two every couple weeks.

We did get a good rain last night. Hopefully, it will help get some new life in ours.

I certainly hope you get no monsoon ~during~ the fair :~\

I've discovered a new trick with Macks new computer. I can run a slide show of all the pictures I've taken with music. It's the coolest thing. You guys probably all know about doing this:), but it moves the pictures forward and back and in and out, and it makes the pictures seem so much more alive, like a moving picture and the music is so cool. It has inspired me to want to take my camera every where. I need a bit more variety. 90% of my pictures are horses, grandkids and my garden:).....

I'm going to Jenny's tonight for a chick flick night, I'm taking the camera to get pictures of her place.

Squarebarb: LOL on the last pic!

Great action shots of the goofin off and the rodeo :~D

Becky: pretty flower pictures.... I haven't noticed all these posts today, I was off in other arguing and such :~D

Little House on the Prairie is on... the great series of episodes when Laura, wanting to give her mom a nice new stove, trades her beloved horse Bunny to Nellie. Nellie mistreats Bunny and gets thrown. She fakes being paralyzed... a lot more hurt than she really was. Mrs. Olsen demands the horse be shot and Laura runs out and steals the horse. When Nellie's faking is 'outed', Laura gets to keep Bunny. Later on, Mrs. Olsen buys Nellie an expensive thoroughbred so she can have a better horse than Laura for the big town race, but of course, she doesn't condition it, and Laura wins....

Remember those?

How, nice. Have fun.

That would be cool, to set the pictures to music. The video card I have, you can hook to the TV. Use it like a monitor, but I never messed with it.

Good pics. That looks like fun. I don't think I've ever been to a real rodeo. Mostly, just what I see on tv:') I was talking to my medical director today about he needed to "play" more. We got to talking about drive inns. He had never heard of one. Isn't that one around Fredricksburg still open? I told him to check out "Twister"
