This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Good morning
Becky
Wow. What beautiful animals. I need to get to work but I'm going to go look at them again first.
Ah, but they don't like the Spa chemicals though (and I always switch on the hot tub light, just in case) : )
Dont be sorry for so many pics, I dont know whether i will ever get the chance to see them and the photos show what beauty they have. It must have really been something being there! Great shots! Love the Quip about the anthem and the horse being born in France! LOL
Great pics Hair! You done good. I love that Andalusian. His mane is gorgeous! Thanks!
~Yawn~
This morning sure came early...
Glad you enjoyed the pictures!
Our morning came early too, we got to bed around 12:30 and Tommy woke up at 4:15am! Yawn!
Ok, something weird is going on here. I was scrolling through the posts and all of a sudden the font size got bigger. Is it just me, did I just imagine it or did anybody else notice it? I'm not complaining, it's a whole lot easier to read, it was just weird.
It's OK here.... I bet you bumped up the text size setting on your browser by hitting some magic combination of keys or mouse buttons.
You can set it to what you want by looking in View--Text Size.
I know I know! You've got spiders in your keyboard! : )
You better watch it girlie, I got your number! There'll be snakes on the agenda today if you ain't careful. ;o)
Actually it's more likely that I've got spiders in my HEAD. My little brain pan needs something in there to take up all that space. ;o)
Of course the original was made of wood. He just got it finished in the last week or so and has used it on several regular sized horses already. Hes got a couple of Hackney Ponies that hes had in there too, so there's hope for Pony if you could get her down there. ;o) The shafts are a little high for them, but he fixed something up to keep them from ducking under. He says its virtually impossible for a horse to act up at all while in this rig. They cant buck, rear up, lay down, kick or run off. They are strapped in and all they can do is go around and around. It has hydraulic brakes so he can increase the drag to make them work harder or stop them completely. He says that is works better than anything hes ever used, including a ground slide and a wagon. He seems to think that the monotony of just going around and around makes their mind more open to training and makes them listen better. He can even sit on them while they are between the shafts so that they are used to that too.
Wow... I don't know if that looks like a great idea or a very dangerous one! I've seen hotwalkers, but never something like that! Interesting.
BTW - We've got a busy day planned here, if I disappear at various points. Our horse shoer is coming this morning.... usually around 10 but who knows.
We're gonna go on a short trail ride tonight after ecurbh gets off work... Trailer them to a trailhead that has a wide water crossing within a mile or so to get to, and work Cyn on both the water crossing and bridges... We thought it'd be a good short jaunt and good lesson to do all on it's own, instead of rushing it because we have a whole trail ride to get on with. We'll got there and spend as much time in the water as we need... or until dark, whichever comes first ;~D
I expect after the first hesitation she'll go right in, and I suspect she'll have no qualms about the bridge. She just isn't timid about spooky things at all. We may have blown up her water-resistance from the first trail ride... It was a very narrow creek, many horses will jump such things if they can... and even Bay won't walk in a puddle if he has a choice.
Busy day here to. I have both Blake and JP today. Yikes, I'm already worn out:) JP is napping Blake is plugged in to SpongeBob for a few mintues. When JP wakes up we are going to the park in town for a picnic. Hopefully mom will be home by the time we come home:). Keeping up with little ones is work:)

This horse is coming back down after either a Corbette or Capriole, and I notice now that the rider lost his stirrup, but not his seat. I didn't even notice this at the time.
This was the gal who originally rode out with the flag for the anthem, whose horse acted up and wasn't going to be able to go. Made a pretty picture here, though.
I thought this picture was good... the first pair are doing a half-pass with shoulder-out, the second pair shoulder-in... trotting straight down the carpet.
This horse had is tongue out the entire time. He's also pictured in the first set of pics doing a Corbette. The MC spoke that yes, they know lolling like this is a vice or fault in dressage, but stopping it involves harsh methods, and since there are no gold medals at stake and he otherwise performs well, they allow him this one thing ;~D
