This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Good morning! Well, we survived the third!
It's wasn't too bad... I think most folk were off at the town display. Some fireworks, but nothing close enough to bother the horses at all. We got Homer through it by letting him sit on our laps.
Good morning everyone, Well the MOVE has gone really well so far. Misty and Thunder were first no problems. They brought back Misty to help Adge get in, and it took a little while but he did it with no injuries and went to feeding and settled as soon as he was in it. A good experience for all I think. : ) It took all in all about 10 mins for each colt to load.
They are coming back for Lightning in a little while. : )
I have been SO Worried for nothing! I am now just upset to see them go. : (
Before you change the "whos who" page, I'll get some good pics of Smokey and Sugar to you. : )
Heh.... poor ecurbh never got around to the last update! :~D
We'll do it. You guys getting them reading to go already?
Oh - now I see this post! so glad it went smoothly!
I think you need to read 3342! Only Lightning is left to go!
((((hugs)))) to you for your sense of loss seeing them go. Hopefully you can go visit them once in awhile and feel good at how well they are doing.
I am too! It would have broken my heart if there was a problem and one of them got hurt. They did great though. : ) I didnt feed them yesterday evening, so they didnt have 14% sweetfeed in them. : ) We put hay in the trailer and some sweet feed. Worked a treat. : )
Thanks I needed that, I am sitting here with tears going down my face. You are all getting blurry. : )
What kind of trailer was it? and how did you/they approach it?
Well I need to go freshen up adn help with loading Lightning, its only 10 mins to their new home so they should be back anytime. Chat later.
Sharn
Take pictures!
Well I'm glad to hear that things went smoothly, but the best thing about them being close is that I'm sure that you can go and visit if you want to and check on their progress.
(But I'm sending big hugs your way anyway)
I need to be quick here, but we put Misty in first, no problem, then we had thunder in the round pen and led him to the trailer and kind of closed the round pen a little behind him. He then went straight on in and started to feed. (very hungry!) they then came back with Misty after dropping Thunder off and we did the same with Adge. I am just so glad that it worked out so well.
I have to go help with Lightning now. : )
Rain! Lucky you.
All gone. : (
Sorry Hair, I didnt get pictures, I really didnt want to have pictures of them leaving. As for seeing them again. Yes we can do that. : )
The trailer was one that has 1/4 open at the top and back. Not totally enclosed thank goodness.
Was it a slant load with partitions? or an open stock trailer? How big? I figure it was not a real big trailer, since you took the babies seperately.
Well, the guy will have a busy day at his place getting everyone settled. How many horses did he have before? Is it a big place? I don't know many that could take on four additions in a day! :~D
No, it was a two horse trailer, straight load. They have just got finished fencing off many acres getting ready for these horses. They have a LOT of land! They already have I think about 5 horses and are having a trainer come in and stay. He will be working with their horses and our bunch. They do a lot of trail rides with friends and family. In fact her desperatly wanted Smokey too, but we know he is a one in a kind horse, as he is so EASY. that we said NO!
