This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
No fear at all.... she's really unusual... Bay will let me near him on the ground sometimes, but Cyn is funny about dropping and rolling. After a ride when we turn her out, it's almost as if ecurbh has to take the halter off and jump out of the way so she doesn't roll right on ya. She just drops in her tracks ;~D
Cyn is a wonderful wonderful horse, you're so lucky to have her. What personality. :-)
One of the horses that I ride is like that. Every single time,he'll drop a half a foot away from you when you release him, roll, and then walk to the gate and lick it. ALL the horses have to lick the tree by the gate when they come out. I don't know if they're missing minerals in their diet, or if it's monkey see monkey do. But with the tree, no one touches it going back into the pasture, only coming out of it.
We like her ;~D
hhmmm is it maple? Maybe the tree is sweet?
You do a great job with the photos. She really liked the scene with the snow and said it would be great, for their winter catalog. Thanks a lot.
REALLY? neat! Will she send me a copy? I'll send you my address.
I'm not sure what kind of tree it is. I don't think that it's a maple tree. The whole lot is kind of quirky anyway. :-)
Has she ever gone down when being rode?
Becky
No - she hasn't done that.... even in water ;~D
She's just really uninhibited about doing it right in front of you. ;~D
Great, so does that mean you'l have a new truck soon?
Becky
Wellllllllll yeah - soon.... he wants to haul some gravel, and some stuff to the dump, while he still has the old one....
Maybe by next weekend ;~D
LOL...I was just going to ask you if he was going to be willing to do hauling in the new truck;). Men are so funny. They buy new trucks then don't want to scratch the bed up....I don't get that...why buy a truck. Mack was like that with our new one. He even complained about me hauling my feed in it, said when I pulled the bags out it scuffed it up:).
Becky
I think it needs some time, before they want to haul in it. ;~D
I'll have to promise to let him borrow the old one for really nasty hauling for some time to come I bet :~D
Well as much as the suckers cost, it is kind of hard to dump a load of gravel into one, truck or not.
Becky
Oh, and BTW, I like the color of it.
Becky
He said he plans to get a painted on bedliner, but that there wasn't much point in doing that while it was still new... that it would cost just as much to do it later, when the bed underneath was actually scratched up.
The sad thing about the hauling gravel is, the blue truck bed is clean... he hasn't hauled anything in it since he had it painted. :~\
BUT, it's a truck, right?
Beautiful truck!
