This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
oops, I'm sorry I didn't see your other posts about him. Hope that this helps...
Wow! 10 puppies, what a great day! Sounds like your days are fixing to get a LOT more interesting with that many little pups tumbling around. Congratulations again!
Wow... what a huge litter! These two moms should share ;~D
Good morning everyone!
Sorry, we miscounted, there were only 9 in this litter. The two moms are sharing, in fact. Sassy didn't have enough teats for all of them, so we moved three over to Jessie, who immediately adopted them. Both moms and all the puppies appear to be doing fine.
Well, that seems more fair! LOL.
I don't know about dogs, but cats do that all the time. My BIL had a couple of cats that had kittens at the same time and the mothers just put them all in one big nursery nest and would take turns nursing them. It was so cute!
I didn't see this post before I posted my reply to Hair about the cats. That's really cool that they're sharing. I'm sure Sassy is probably relieved that she doesn't have quite so many right now.
Oh, we've got a new addition too. My FIL's jenny, who's in the pasture with the cows next to my horses, finally had her baby this morning. I was beginning to think that her poor belly was going to drag the ground first. My sister-in-law e-mailed me about it this morning and said it was still wet when she saw it out there. She said she finally got close enough to tell that it was a boy but that he was pretty spunky and tried to kick her if she tried to mess with him. LOL! I can just see a little hours-old donkey with foot long ears trying to kick her. She took the Jenny some grain and water and said that the little jack seemed to be nursing fine. She has school today (she's studying for her Masters in Education) so I'll check on him when I go to feed this afternoon. She said the Jenny didn't seem to mind her messing with him so that's good. I hope she doesn't try to eat me alive when I go out there. I'm going to try to separate them from the cows and into a small pasture in front of the house for a while. I can't wait to see it and take some pics for y'all to see. Little baby donkeys are just cute beyond belief coz their ears are full size.
I bet they are cute. Looking forward to the pictures!
Isn't she gorgeous!
Well, I don't know that I'd go that far! ;o) She looks pretty wooly right now. She just stays out in the pasture with the cows and all she eats is what they eat, but she does have a weakness for Pringles. ;o) Her feet are really overgrown coz they've never been trimmed. Even though she's not mine, I was going to get my farrier to do it the next time he comes but I'm sure she'll have to be tranquilized to have it done and I knew we couldn't do that until she had the baby. I don't even know if it should be done now. I'm not sure if it would go through the milk to the baby or not. I'm gonna call the vet and ask.
Oh - thanks for seeing that she gets that kind of care. I think mom's get tranquilized while nursing without too much consequence.
Can't stay on long. Major storm coming on us.
If anyone has a little time, say a quick prayer. Hubby is on the way to the house with a load, and the boys are staying at the house to guard things. They are having this storm HAMMERING them. The storm is just over the hill HERE, so I'll have to unplug the 'puter! LOL.
What a day to move.
Will be back!
Oh dear. Stay dry!
Wow, I just looked at your radar and it looks really bad in Ohio. Prayers going up for you and yours! Stay safe!

That is tooooo cool! Pictures! Pictures!
Baby donkeys are the cutest babies ever.
Just got back from the APHA World Paint Horse Show and it's a paint lover's paradise. Lots of beautiful horses. Wish I could buy them all and turn them into overweight pasture horses.
Sounds like a great time!
I was just out mowing and had to come in because I got a bad charley horse. It's so frustrating. I try to get some exercise and I end up back on my butt.
