The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread SIX

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Their ears aren't long now, but just wait one week! LOL
Um I cannot believe I am saying this, but having cuddled them, cleaned them and taken pics of them, not once did I think of looking to see what sex they were! I guess I was so excited that we had three "true blues' in the litter. They are very rare and highly sought after! : )
I'm in and out of here because of my other girl is due too!

This might be a post and run....I'm waiting fer supper to cook on the grill. LOL!
***the treasures can't be replaced, nothing heals that loss.***

Those little things the kids made throughout their childhood, were going to be something I planned on giving them, when they moved out and started their OWN homes. Childhood memories. Heirlooms.
Oh well.
I take comfort knowing that the perps will NOT remain hidden. (LOL...I take the Bible seriously!)And may God forgive me if I get ahold of them BEFORE the law or HE does.
I hate to admit it, but I was fit to be tied when all the investigators made noises like they thought WE did it. I wanted to rip their faces off.

"That's interesting. especially the fact that the problem is so prevelant people think of it as normal."

If shod correctly, it's not that big of a deal. It's just expensive and time consuming to take care of. I knew Tuffy had problems when I bought him but I got more than I bargained for, now that he has allergies as well as crappy feet. I still don't regret buying him, he's so sweet and good natured, but dang does he have problems.

I started George on Pergolide today. Hope it helps.

Funny how this thread kind of dies during the afternoon, then we all show back up about the same time every evening:)

I just talked to Sally and Celia. We are still going tomorrow, 103 degree temps be damned:) I've got water bottles in the freezer, and a bucket in the trailer. Leaving here in the morning by 7, and meeting them there at 9. I guess there will be 6 of us.

I have tons of stuff that the kids made in school, most of it in scrapbooks. I'd be heartbroken if I lost all that.

Still, you have to thank God that no one was hurt.

Pergolide is a drug used for horses with Cushing's disease. Should help George be a little more normal, like with shedding and founder problems. He's gotten worse over the last few weeks, another symptom of escalating Cushing's is drinking and urinating alot, something George didn't do until recently.

Is that the common Cushings drug? My friend Bob who eventually lost his horse to Cushings tried something that was really expected to work, had a good track record anyway, but his was one of the few that cases that didn't respond.

Except for the heat, it sounds like fun. Take some rags that you can soak in any water you come across to put around your neck. I saw something neat that endurance riders do, they tie a big sponge onto a long string and when they get to a stream, they drop it in the water and haul it back up, wet themselves and their horses down with it. I guess one end is tied to the saddle.

Yes, it is the common Cushing's drug. Not all horses respond, it's true. Let's all pray for George....

Well, I'm shutting this down for the night, I've got to get to bed early.

Depending on how smooth my morning goes, I may not get the ping out, if not see you all tomorrow afternoon.

I hate it that you lost the little things that the kids made, but at least you were all pysically unharmed.
I keep all the things the kids make for the Christmas Tree and every year they go back on, with more added. One day, when they are grown, I plan to pass them on as keepsakes. As you can imagine, our tree is as far from a designer tree as you can get! LOL It's our family tree and I am so sorry you lost your childrens handiwork.
Look forward to being HOME again and a NEW begining for you and your family.
Im my prayers.
Sharn
