*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

...I told her I had heard he was married now and had a kid....But he still has some very feminine mannerisms....kind of scary...

Maybe he just goes both ways. He wouldn't be the first gay guy to do it. He probably just wanted to have children. I feel sorry for his wife if that's the case though.

May be, but I didn't see any horse back there. I'll have to go back and look.

ROTFLMAO! That's the best laugh I've had in a while. Everybody needs one of those to remember before they die. ;o)

My horses do that sometimes, usually when i don't turn them out of their runs enough.

I know it can be a problem if they do it too much. There is some kind of stuff you can buy "Krumbles" or something, you add to their feed occasionally to flush them out. I think it's the same stuff you use to help sand colics. I knew someone who had a horse who eat manure ALL the time. Had developed a habit. It killed him. I think she said it builds up some kind of bacteria in them. Mine don't do it habitually so I don't worry. I'd just keep an eye on him. You know if your feed has any kind of molasses on it, it makes their poop sweet too:)

Well he never tried to hide what he was, that's why I know he used to at least be gay. I'd say if a girl married him, she knew what she was getting into.

Well, it is sweet feed that we're feeding. I'll try to watch, but I can't tell what he's grazing on out there.

Thanks... I appreciate the reply, though this conversation is not as interesting as the conversation Frog and tuffy are having. ;~D

I went back and looked at that picture again too. It might be the tire on the truck parked behind that horse. It's amazing how it looks tho:)

As I said earlier, there definitly is the chance I just dreamed up the guy telling me it was a mare...I can't remember. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention once he told me it wasn't Juma.

"this conversation is not as interesting as the conversation Frog and tuffy are having."

Ok, ya'll talked me into it, I'll tell ya the story, partially. You probably don't want all the gory details.

This guy was going to be a priest and he was living in a convent. Sneaking up to his room late at night was half the fun.

He never became a priest and the women of the world are thanking the good Lord about that.

Hey I found the pictures of the "tennis shoes" I got for my horses last year.

I tried them for a few months and didn't like them tho. I had trouble keeping them on their feet. Yesterday when i used them on Rusty they stayed just fine, but I didn't go thru any water, or over much rough stuff. For emergency's they might be fine.

Those are kinda neat. I wonder if they would have stayed on better if they'd have been a smaller size? I keep Winnie barefoot and it would be nice to have something like that for trail rides.

Mack seems to think that was the problem, that we got too big a size. I measured the horses feet before we ordered them, right after they had a trim. The thing is they went barefoot for awhile before the shoes got here and their feet really get wore off here, and were even shorter then when I measured.

Rusty's feet were a little longer yesterdayt then back then, it was actually rather hard to get them on.

But something else I didn't like about them was, if you went thru water, which you do alot on trails, at least I do, they fill up and hold water. Then when I would take them off the back of their foot looked all white and mushy. I don't know if that was a big deal or not, I just didn't like the way it looked.

That center blue thing is a cover for a dial that you turn to tighten the little wires you see at the sides of the blue cover. One of them broke after a short time too, but it might have been because I was tightening them so much trying to get them to stay on.

If I was going to buy anymore boots, I'd look into a brand called Old Mac's. You can find them on the internet. I've heard alot about them since I bought these. They sound better.

Becky

I haven't seen the footage and I don't know where the fire is at, so I don't know how fast it's moving.

The wildfires move pretty fast here and many times there is a mandatory evacuation. The Waterfall Fire here last year moved fast enough to catch all the deer, bear, mountain lions, coyotes, etc. Left behind a whole mountain of dead wildlife who would have started moving out way before it got close.

I'm so sorry about your house. Houses can be rebuilt but all the treasures can't be replaced, nothing heals that loss.

I had that same problem when I ordered a set of EasyBoots. They wouldn't stay on either. They said to use Liquid Nails in them too, but all that did was make a mess. They might stay on ok if all you did was walk, but not if you moved on any at all.

Mommadooo how awful about the fire! Were the (insert whatever nasty words you want here)caught? I can relate to idjit landlords. My parent's landlord just sold their house out from under them, and gave them less than three weeks to move out. He sold the house next door too, and the people have been tenants there for thirty years, and are well retired. He gave them about the same time frame to move out as well. To top it off, he sold the land around the two houses as well, and is squeezing in two more houses. I'll take pictures and show them. The house that is between their neighbor and them is on less than a half an acre, and the second house is built on the corner of the neighbor's lot. You can spit and hit the foundations of the houses. It's really, really terrible.
