*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well I'm back, and I feel pretty miserable, especially the left side of my face. Ah well. The surgery was ... eventful. I woke up half way through, only I couldn't see or move to tell them that I was "awake", but could feel things going on. Also, the nurse didn't know how to start an IV, so that part was loads of fun, and when she took it out of my arm she forgot to shut the IV pump off, so anesthesia stuff went squirting all over the room. Luckily I was drugged enough to think that it was pretty darn funny.

Oh dear! I don't like to see mishaps when folk are doing mechanical things to my body!

Glad it's over anyway.... hope the miserableness fades.

Was this wisdom teeth? I had wisdom teeth out. I remember being starving, but still unable to feel my throat to functionally eat.

Yes, this was wisdom teeth. One half of my jaw is fine, the other half is nearly completely stiff. I'm also having the same throat problem. But they gave me good pain drugs, and ice packs help too!
Did you get to go on a trail ride this weekend?

No - no trail rides this weekend or next.... and we've been extremely lazy as a result!

Wow Frog, good luck with Tennessee. That's a pretty funny pic with three of them in that trailer.

It will be nice to be close to your horses again, but I don't envy you the packing and moving part! Good luck!
Hope you have a very blessed day too! : )

Thanks for the input! I have just filled a bag and taped it to my back porch door. Friends will just have proof that I have really lost it now! LOL

Yellow is seriously thinking about getting scared:') I just hate it when they decide to go straight from green to red without talking to me about it first.,though. Yellow is cool.

Thank you on the compliment - I like Prez too. I'm glad to hear you will be leaving Thurs for greener pastures (at least for Sarah and Okie). I think they will be so much better off there.

:) - all my friends already think I'm crazy - and not one person can walk through my door without making a comment about plastic bags full of water on the porch :)

Endurance ride is finished. 24 riders, Tracey finished 11th and Bob finished 13th. 50 miles with one 1hour hold and 2 15minute holds included. Tracey's time was 7hrs, Bob's was 7hrs 39minutes. Sonny did fine but was tired, Fancy was beat, poor mare. They both vetted in fine though, everything was okay except attitude. Well, the attitude comes with the territory with an Appaloosa. Seriously pissed to be asked to trot out again after they figured they were done.

Hello all! Made it back safe and sound. Traffic is so heavy at this time of the year, on the interstates. It was suppose to get in the high 90's today, so I decided not to shoot, and headed home. 600 targets this week was enough for me. I did manage to break a 94 on Tuesday's Handicap. Wouldn't you know, another lady did also, and we had to get in a shoot-off for high lady. After shooting 200 that day, and waiting until after 7 pm for the shoot off, I was too darn tired, and blew my chance for glory. We had to shoot-off in front of the grandstand with all these people watching. That really got to my nerves too. All in all, I did pretty well, and had a good time.

Hair...pics are great as usual and I am glad you had another good trail ride.

Becky..you and I better stay off farm equipment..lol I still have that knot on my head, from the tree branch. In trap shooting, they have a system, where the lower scores can win money too. As an example, my 94 didn't win a dime, but I won $35.00 for a 86 I shot. This is money that the shooters pay into. Is there added money at barrel shows, or do the rider pay into the pot?

Duchess, your horses look great! Congrats on their placings.

Congratulations, sounds like you did great. The only time I'd get caught in front of a grandstand full of people would be dead :)

Thanks, I'm pretty proud of my horses this weekend.

Strangely at the time, while I was aware I didn't care, but I did at the same time. It was wierd. I was apparently the assistant nurse's first patient. (Lucky me) So that's probably why I woke up. I'm fine now, just very very stiff.

Becky, how did your DIL make out? I hope that all went well.
