*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I just wondered about the camping since you tried in your back yard:) Camping is a lot of work.

It's very nice here right now. Lunch is over so I'm off to do the weed eating.

Well, what we found out from the campout in the back yard is that we don't have a good camping bed. I'm too old to sleep on the ground ;~D

If we solved that, and the care of the pony, it'd be fun to camp. Till then, it's only seven miles home ;~D

...Frog, are you going to get to ride with your friend that has Blade this weekend?...

Yeah, I think so. We're planning on meeting up out at the Forest on Saturday like we were going to last weekend but got rained out.

Why do you ask?

No idea. I hope the hot water heater hasn't gone out.

That's what it always was was when that happened to us. Hopefully that's what it is and you can just either screw in another fuse if you've got one or flip the breaker. I don't know why they do that sometimes, unless maybe it's a sign that the water heater is beginning to have problems.

Now that I think of it, the last time we had troubles, we put a smaller amperage fuse back in there than what was in there before and it caught on fire and nearly burned the house down. You wouldn't think it would do that, because a smaller amp fuse should just blow quicker and that's pretty much it. It scared the crap outta both of us I'll tell ya that.

We were both trying to get ready to go to work when it happened. I had already gotten dressed, but my husband was just about to get in the shower when flames started shooting out of the fusebox, so he's running around naked, screaming for me to get the fire extinguisher and I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off because I don't know where it is because we had just moved and he's trying to pull the main breaker but it's up above all the other fuses and the flames are covering it up. It was wild!

I don't know how he finally pulled it, but he did. It blacked the wall pretty good and burned up the fuse box, but thankfully no more damage than that. After that, we replaced the old fuse box with a breaker box and bought a new fire extinguisher that know where it is. I was just glad we were both still at home, coz if it'd happened about an hour later nobody would've been there and the whole place would've probably burned down. I thanked God profusely for that little favor!

I remember those fuse boxes. All of ours on breakers and it probably just kicked it. That's scary though.

I was just wondering because we were talking about horses not liking cows, so I thought of Blade and the pigs.

Put pony in the flat bed of the pickup truck with some high slat sides, take her with you and pony her. :-) It might work better than you think.

Heh... Was talking to my farrier and he asked if we'd packed on her yet... as I always talk that she's a good size for a little pack pony. I said "We haven't figured out what we'd bother to pack up that we didn't mind losing"... he said "Put the beer on her.... Cheap beer".

Strange. It's working fine now and no one did anything. All I could get this morning was about a 10th of what usually comes out and it was cold. Maybe it was a pipe problem. I need to tell Eddie I guess but I don't want to wake him up.
