*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

A newscaster stated, that the algae was called "red tide". It is affecting the clam, oysters and mussels harvest. From what I heard, it can poison you, if you eat them. I heard this on the National news last night, so you might have too.

That is what is on my agenda today, getting the mowing caught up. I've got to run to town to get gas. I'm waiting on the vet to call me, I want to get a shot to get Belle in season so I can get her out of here by the first of the week.

Something I meant to remember to mention here. At the clinic, they demonstrated a product for us that I thought looked like it worked very well. It is called EZ-All total body wash. It was this stuff to wash horses, that required no scrubbing. They demoed it on a paint horse, and you could really see the diffence in the white. The first time you buy it you have to buy the sprayer that you spray it on with, then it's a spray it all over the horse, let it sit for 5, then rinse. It's low sudsing so it rinses very easy.

I was just looking at it on their website, and you can get stuff to wash your trucks a trailers the same way too.

The price was $29.95 for the sprayer and a gallon of wash. A gallon goes a long way, I can't remember how many washes you get out of it, but I remember thinking it was pretty good for the price. Heck, if I wash one with just regular soap, I can use almost a half bottle. This stuff is suppose to go along way. It's kind of coming back to me, I think it was like 2 ounces per horse per wash...but I'm not 100% on that.

Good Morning to you. I heard a snippet on the radio last week, about algae in the East coast area. Beaker had not heard about it, and last night was the first time, I heard more.

Bad storms yesterday cooled down the temps today. It was 90 and really humid before that. At least my AC got fixed. It was the thermostat.

Well DANG! I leave y'all to go home from work and cowtown gets banned again. I sure hate that. I think it was inevitable though. I don't think he couldn't keep a low profile if his life depended on it, but they did seem to have it in for him. I don't get out of here much, but in the few times I have, I've seen worse behavior than he exhibited. He was our buddy and he'll be missed, crazy as he was. ;o)

Hello:)

I've been to town, got Belle's shot, but I can't give it to her till Fri. My vet is having surgery on Fri, and won't be back at her clinic till Mon. She will have to run that culture on Belle 3 days after giving her the shot. So that means Belle will be here next week:(. I'm ready to get back to fewer horses here.

Anyway, I also have the yard all mowed. I'm in taking a break, then have to do the weed eating. Then I think everything will be caught back up. Tomorrow I ride:).

I think I will just do a trail ride on Harley, Rusty is going to get 30 minutes in the arena, and Rocky will get arena work too.

Frog, are you going to get to ride with your friend that has Blade this weekend?Hair you riding this weekend?

Becky

Who was it on the thread that had a horse that was petrified of pigs? Was it Blade that was?

We had a nice day here yesterday. Today feels like it's going to be hot but maybe not as humid as it was before.

I'm still waiting to mow... it's not warming up as fast as I hoped, still only 45 here brrrr... I need it warm to dry out the tall grass.

YES we'll be riding this weekend. We'll do the truck switch tomorrow, and try to ride as many days as we can from Fri-Mon.... Sunday is our first anniversary. :~D

Well congratulations:)

45....dang, do you have the heat on:)

Are you going to try to do any camping or just go and come back each day?

Becky

We're just going to go and come back each day. Camping would be more work... and poor pony would be alone ;~D

Weather is really expected to be rainy, but they've been wrong about that all week, they just keep moving it forward when it doesn't happen.

Plan is to try to ride Fri, Sat, rest Sun, and ride Mon. But we'll also pick the best or worst days weather wise to shuffle that as needed.

I think my weatherbug temp is still stuck at the morning low, it's actually 55 on the temp on the porch. I think it's warmer in the sun, it stays cool here in the trees.
