We are thinking of going the same route as you do, but as for eating your own.........I wouldn't have a problem with that! At least I would know what went into the animal!
I used to have a pet cow that I rode all around the farm. It was one way to make sure that i could get across the farm without sinking waist deep in cowpats! Her name was Daisy and I loved her! Awwwwwwww!~ : D
Cows (esp red one's) fall right under snakes for me. My chickens made better pets!
HUH? feeds them What? I am either in need of a drink or my eyesight is misleading me. Can we try that one again, cause I dont understand! : D
Daisy was a sure way to be able to get across the farm so that i ended up at school smelling ok and not like a....well like a farmyard! Needs must! LOL
It is easy to get attached to cattle, just like horses, dogs and cats. They will stand at the gate and wait for you to feed them, just like horses.
You sell the calves at weaning time each year for income. The calves are called feeder calves because they are sent to feed lots for fattening up before being sold for slaughter.
They are sold as feeder calves.
Yeah. The cows get feed. Maybe she does her own fatting up? Don't know. I just know some get feed.
The quickest and best way to get into the cow business is to buy what is called a three-in-one cow-calf package. That is a cow, about 4 or 5 years old, with a calf by her side and already bred back to the same bull. It is the most expensive way but you will have a calf to sell in a few months and the cow is already carrying the next calf. You will need a bull by the time the next calf is born though. After you sell the second calf your cow will be paid for and the third calf will be your profit.
What have I missed again? What did he do?
Well I have only bought one cow . I'm usually really good with animals but this one the meanest, most willful beast that I had ever seen. Seasoned cattle ranchers would come swaggering in and leave with their hands thrown up.
Good Night Girls!
Talk to you later!
Heh! And I thought you were a Cowgurl......... : )
ROFL someone must have seen you coming! : D
It was just the back side of a streaker. Inge Cav said that he just got caught. I didn't notice any problems with his posting. We were all just bantering back and forth.
Workin on it:')
Goodnight Cav!
A man after my own heart.
Night
what did you do with the meanest cow in Texas?
