Just about done unloading the RV. Have some laundry started.

I put up the print I won as a door prize and had autographed by RE and Martha, and took a picture of it.

The only mishap on the trip was we lost the retread on one tire coming home.

On Sat. Mack, SIL, and Blake went to a pottery factory in Marshall, the closest town. They really enjoyed it. They got to see a man makeing some vases. In the circle of the drive in front of the barn they had some figures set up with flowers all around. I thought it strange at a horse barn. I didn't realize there was this factory in the town.

Well I see things I need to do and things I don't at my own place. I've learned a lot this last year but probably nothing compared to what I still need to know. Can horses that are running not see ropes though or just can't stop? He ran right into it, never slowing.

You had a flat tire too? Gads!

Did you see ours? It was bad, but we are such wimps. ;~D

The print poster is very cool. Does she still compete or train horses herself, or is she just teaching now?

He wasn't watching... Their legs move faster then their brains when they are loose in a new place and think they are getting away with something. Having horses running wild and playing in a place that is full of obstacles and risks like that is not good.

And I wouldn't ever have horses where other people are controlling the gate to the outside world. I'd always have two gates at a driveway so one of them is always closed.

This is something to keep in mind when you get them to the new place... we already recommended walking the entire fenceline with them exactly for that reason. Don't let them discover their perimeter at a frenzied gallop. :~\

Yeah, I agree. Is that why yall told me to walk them around the fence line when I put them out to pasture?

She still competes. It's amazing. She was about to qualify last year again for the NFR. Would have been the only person to qualify for it for 5 generations, but she got hurt pretty bad.

She was somewhere where they always close the gate during a run because there is a short alley way, then cement. The guy who was suppose to be minding the gate, was visiting when she started her run. After the 3rd barrell people noticed the gate wasn't closed and started hollering to get the gate closed. The guy swung it shut, but to late. Her and her horse crashed into it so hard they both went over, and landed on the cement. She broke a rib and it punctured her lung. Luckily a doctor was in the stands and came and got a chest tube in her or she would have died. She told us she felt really bad, because she only got the Dr. last name. Never found out how to get hold of him to thank him.

She says she'll keep competeing till she's 105:). She's got to be in her late 60's at least now.

LOL! Big Mac looks like he's thinking "Woman, if you don't put that camera down, I'm gonna whack you with this tire iron, right into next week!" ;o)

Oh, and no I didn't see your flat tire:) Flat tires are par for the course for us. Even if we put brand new tires on we always have at least one flat:). I'm just glad it was on the RV and not Charlies truck or the trailer. That would have been a bit hairy. That trailer and the load it had in it was almost too much for Charlies truck. He did not have trailer brakes. We've never had trailer brakes, but really would have been nice with that load.

Wow... I can't imagine a trailer that heavy without brakes. It's state law here with any tandem axle trailer.

Here's our flat tire. We were up scouting new places to ride to, and only found roads too rough to get into with the trailer. The goal was to try to find a place where the hight trail up to the tallest peak crosses one of the logging roads where we could pick it up higher. It's a 30 mile round trip from the bottom, and a lot of climbing.

That would be bad for anyone, but especially someone her age. I just can't imagine. She never said what it did to the horse.

These people are really loved by their employees tho. When the horse got out of control at this clinic, I guess one of the instructors saw it coming and jumped over and grabbed RE and covered him. They both did get knocked down and run over, but I guess it could have been worse if the guy hadn't done what he did.

Her video guy showed us a video of the run she made 6 months after that wreck. It was incredible.

Where do folk like that find their courage to do it again? My confidence gets shaken so easily. Two years after Bay fell down, my heart still jumps every time he stumbles in the slightest.

Well you know that wasn't the horse or the riders fault. I'd sure hate to be that gate man. Can you imagine being the one to do something like that to a celebrity of her caliber. Yikes. I imagine he is NOT a gate man anymore.

I'm still trying to picture the scene... was this a gate in the 'run out' area at the end of the run?

You didn't have trailer brakes on that big ol' 3-horse slant trailer y'all were pulling!! I don't have brakes on my 2-horse, but that's the biggest thing I'd ever feel comfortable pulling without them. I don't know how you did it. It'd scare me to death.
