*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

So it sounds like tuffy wasn't that far off by not running at home.

Good morning.... the pics and stories are great...

Did Mack take most of these pics?

Did she do the one where you press for 10 seconds on the end of their tail bone, release, then press for 15, release then 20. It relaxes their tail so much you can then rotate it all around and bend it up over their back. Suppose to be good for their whole back bone.

The one you mash in on a place in their shoulder was the one that you could tell really relaxed the whole horse. It was funny. I thought her horse was going to start drooling:)

Yeah we've know for a long time, not to run them over and over to practice. They realy don't learn much at the top speeds. But we just never really know what to do with them other then trail rides. This gave us a lot of routines to work on. I just need to get some more barrels:)

Mack did take all the pictures. I took a few on Thrus of the girls riding in the back arena. I rode while they were doing something else.

Well, I'm glad he would take so many pics so we can see a little bit of what it was like!

So are you going right to competition now? Is that what's Thursday?

Here's a look at the back arena. It's not fences, just has the streamers markiing it off.

No, Thurs. is just the day I'm going to start riding him again. I'm going to let him rest a bit, he earned it. We are all planning on going to a 4D next Tues. It's at that arena I went to last year and took pictures of the girls running. You had to lighten them for me.

I can't remember, it's been a long time ago. I just remember seeing her do an exhibition at Equitana in Louisville, KY. She had a hyped up Trakener stallion in the ring with her and she was supposed to be "relaxing" him so that he could pay attention and be handled and needless to say, it wasn't working. All he had on his mind was nookie. He made her look like a total fruitcake. It was really funny.

She has her own thing.... It's not just massage, it's her personality.

I'd be interested in your things to try - when you've got time to take pics ;~D

Yeah, I've got all my pictures in albums now, and am loading the last of the ones I took of my garden this morning, after I got most of the weeding done. I can't believe how much it grew in the 6 days I was gone.

I've got to go now. Charlie brought me his truck so I can go get Harley. I've got to get that done, Kristy has no milk at home and JP wants some:).

I'll see you all later.

I hope to do some of the things tonight to help him over any sore muscles he may have. The routine she said to use should take but 15 minutes or so to do. She said you can't hurt even if you don't get it just right. Just rubbing them stimulates circulation with helps muscles.

I'm back. My dogs hate going to the groomers!

Man, that place is going up by leaps and bounds. I'll try to get some pictures today and post them. It's a great place.

I am going to try to "accidentally" run into this neighbor but I think they ride Tennessee Walkers. When that land first sold I saw a bunch of people over there riding Walkers that they had trailered over.

Wow, that place looks like a little city unto itself.

Cindydawg, I was watching a special on tv the other day about spectacular log homes and one of them was owned by the movie guy, Peter Guber. It was in Aspen and it was incredible. Indoor basketball court, big game room, beautiful movie theater, etc. It was worth 65 million. Hope his business never tanks. Oh, he had a store inside the home, with boots, coats, gloves, etc., for his guests that might have forgotten something. He gave the stuff away and kept it well stocked. It had all kinds of boots in various sizes, same with jackets.

I just got the boys fed. It's been so long since I cooked I almost forgot how. I'm chewing my nails. The state doing a full book at my husbands place. They were making med passes with the medication aides which my son is one of. He did good though. Now my DIL doing her skills as I type. I think I'm gonna take the boys out to the horses and measure them for boots in bit. Definately get some pictures. That's how you could introduce yourself. Tell her you are an online reporter for an internet saddle club and we want to see what's going up. Educational purposes, you know?:')

I love going to clinics where the horse doesn't do what the clinician said he would do. I went to one where this woman said she could get this unloadable horse into the trailer in less than an hour. The clinic started at 7 p.m. and by 11, I was tired of waiting to see if she was ever gonna get that horse in.

LOL That is an EXCELLENT suggestion and I bet it would work. It's not really a lie, either.

Oooo, I'm jealous. I wish somebody'd build a big indoor arena next door to my place. Maybe you can talk them into letting you ride there sometimes.
