Katie Holmes is not sporting a ring yet, but she is engaged to Tom Cruise.

Just one month after the two started canoodling to publicly express their love, Holmes has packed her bags and moved in with the star and pals have said she has accepted his marriage proposal.

We also hear that Holmes, a former Christian, is converting to Scientology. A pal says, 'She had her initial meeting at the Scientology center in LA, and she is coverting.'

Holmes has also switched agents at Creative Artists Agency--from her longtime rep to Cruise's sister/rep Lee Anne DeVette.

Meanwhile, after Tom's over the top burst of emotion PDA on Oprah last week, there's a new hobby in LA among agents and others, called 'Doing the Cruise.'

According to defamer.com, people al parties get riled up and start jumping up and down on sofas and wrestling.

Any person willing to give up their values and convert to a cultists religion will also give up many other things.

Of course Hollyweird is famous for trading partners like dogs in heat.

This marriage will last just as long as people magazine thinks it is a cool thing.

Cruise is a selfish pretty boy with an big ego.

I feel sorry for the gal but she has chosen to make her bed with this weirdo.

Why are you wasting bandwidth on this which should be used for earthshattering events like the Paris Hilton/Paris Latsis engagment? The current over/under line for the expected length of the marriage is at the cutting of the cake during the reception. I'm betting on the under. :-)

If you're not quite stupid enough to be a Moslem, you get to be a Scientologist.

These people go to all lengths to promote their movies don't they? Look at Jolie & Pitt. Hollywood will soon be incestuous.

Well, don't discount her age (she's like 20) and her apparent infatuation with the 'glamour' that is Hollywood and Cruise. A lot of us didn't always make the best choices at that age, yet this one is not one to fool with, the Scientologists play for keeps.

Selling her soul to the devil is exactly what she did.

She will think it was too cheap when she steps into hell.

The tin-foil cap crowd really has its hooks in the mopes in Hollywood. Cruise never struck me as an intellectual powerhouse and neither did Travolta - as we say on the south side of Chicago -' He's short on brains, but a terrific dancer!'

The Passion of the Cruise

Tom talks frankly for the first time about why Scientology is "the sh**, man"

snip

Cruise joined Scientology, the controversial church of religion and life philosophy started by L. Ron Hubbard, after church courses helped him overcome his dyslexia in the Eighties; he was followed, one by one, by his three sisters. His mother was the lone holdout in the clan. A year ago, however, after going through what she describes as "some things," she relented.

But doesn't Scientology conflict with her Catholicism? Not at all, she says: "I think Jesus wants me to be here right now. My church may not agree, but I personally know that."

We sit down on the couch, and Lee Anne puts in a video. It is a tape of Tom Cruise speaking at her daughter's graduation from the Delphian School, which uses L. Ron Hubbard's learning principles. It is a passionate speech, in which Cruise sings the praises of Hubbard's "Study Tech" and rails against psychiatry and psychiatric medication. After graduating, Lee Anne's daughter will work in Cruise's office. They're a tight little family.

snip

"Who are those people that say those things?" Cruise asks when I bring it up over lunch one day. "Because I promise you, it isn't everybody. But I look at those people and I say, 'Bring it. I'm a Scientologist, man. What do you want to know?' I don't mind answering questions."

He lists some of Scientology's selling points: its drug-abuse, prison-rehabilitation and education programs. "Some people, well, if they don't like Scientology, well, then, f*** you." He rises from the table. "Really." He points an angry finger at the imaginary enemy. "F*** you." His face reddens. "Period."

I wonder if she knows it. She's pretty young and starstruck. He's looked long and hard to find some young thing that would serve that purpose. He is Scientology's mouthpiece. If it's such a 'normal' and good thing, why does he always, despite his wealth and status, seem to be working soooo hard to appear 'normal'. Rhetorical, really. It's because he's not and Scientology has become his dark master.
