I seem to remember that the Romans used to keep door mice in a kind of clay pot, and make a meat snack out of them.
Sold as a kind of fast food as well.

But this practice ended when they started having too many commercial banners strung up all over the place. You couldn't take a family of four to the Collesium for a reasonable amount anymore, and all the boxes were taken by rich senators. And the food was awful.
Thank god times have changed, huh? :)
