Of course-you can't put them into a plastic bubble, either-but, depending on their age, I wouldn't let them go to a mall or large movie theater complex in a shopping center-I never let mine do that until she was nearly 18-too many criminal elements hang out at places like that trying to entice kids.

My oldest (Ryan, 16) does go to that Merrifield movie complex - bet they go in gangs of ten or so, driven their by various parents, and retrived by the Mom motor pool.

Still, xs has a valid point - I had no idea that their had been gang activity there.
