There are several "enclaves", gated and otherwise in SA that supposedly keep out the bad and common folk-the main one is Alamo Heights-they had the worst problem with kids dealing drugs in the area even when I was in school-and I'll bet Robert remembers that, too since he grew up on that side of town. Out here in the middle of nowhere there was recently a huge sweep of meth labs by county and state law enforcement that netted some 20 people, many of them living in rental cabins on big ranches-they move out here and set up a lab out in the woods, thinking that no one will smell the s*** cooking when nothing could be further from the truth-out here, you notice every different smell because something burning unattended could turn into a forest fire in minutes. Crime knows no boundaries and criminals are no respecters of gates, enclaves or the socioeconomic level of an area they want to muscle into.
Life is risky, but it beats the alternative.
