In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.
The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. Im just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words as if can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.
Adjective combining form
Pronunciation: Zoic
Etymology: [Greek] (zoicos) Of or pertaining to animals
1) Animal: having an animal mode of existence: animal life and action.
2) Of or relating to a (specified) geological era.
I guess we could say Hobbes1 is a tigerzoic humanoid. So sorry, Tiger. It was a low fast ball.
You can use any root word for the zoic. Just make it sound like we know what were writing.
Very strange, you have a problem similar to tioga's. Sorry, Tex.
Which one are you today?
In the spirit of the crazy-eyed runaway bride; I'm going with Leather Guy
Much harder....:))
Get your motor runnin'...
i love you no matter how you are dressed, HD. : )
a completely fascinating story, Greg. it played out in mental pictures, like a movie, as i was reading it. bottom line, it seems to me that Mrs.GWMoore was put on this earth to save you from yourself, and she appears to have succeeded in her mission, along with the help of your girlchild. Imagine the power that this woman wielded...you turned down an ivy league education (or should i say peed it away...) you said no, to the naval academy commission, but mrsGWmoore said yes to you and the rest is history. The story has action, adventure, pathos, romance, intrigue. i give it an A++++ !
oh the romance of the MEN from WFTD.... : )
Very interesting-and romantic, too...
I read your adventure of the fried corn-hubby would probably like it, but I have an extreme aversion to creamed corn going back to my childhood-I don't remember the reason I don't like it, but I know I don't. Hubby, on the other hand will eat corn in any way, form or fashion-I haven't fried bacon in a pan on the stove in a long time, either-I wonder if the corn will fry just as well in Pam or vegetable oil-it would be less greasy, but I imagine that part of the appeal of the dish is the bacon flavor.
Overreacting, assuming for the sake of argument it even was overreaction, to small aircraft goes a long way to demonstrating the airspace is tight. Works for me.
well i could have not cooked it long enough, but the consistency is not that of creamed corn. the corn is firm, in the sauce that the half and half and bacon flavored grease form. I wouldn't bother doing it with pam or veg. oil, bc it IS all about the flavor of the grease.
My thoughts exactly-if the sky watchers had only overreacted to certain anomalies in the flight patterns/radio messages of 4 commercial flights, 9-11 might well not have happened...
Darn, I had NO Idea, I thought I was unique, considering that I had "borrowed" all the facilities for the grand event, even to getting the Commo Officer out of the Rack to "Officially" sign off on the outgoing (I felt a message of such importance was far too important to be signed off by the duty Ofc[he agreed, it was, as you might say, a "conspiracy"] perpetrated by those individuals who have to stay in closed spaces at 0300, and what better way for a duty Ofc and Watch Supv to pass the time [besides lousy coffee] than such a momentous undertaking).
I did, think, though, that I may have been the first LOL, am extremely glad to hear there is a precedent.
Now, that having been said, I do admit to being somewhat jealous of not being the RM at the "Mill" when your "reply" was received from your future bride. I think I would have given just about anything to have copied that msg, especially if it had been xmtd in clear on a CW circuit... I picture the "huh" expression on my face as I looked at the copy, and the instant reflex of going for the authentication material to prove that this, indeed was "real". Like you, I highly approve of the efficiency, though. Being called into the XO's ofc is PRICELESS!!!!!
I did, however think I was the original ROTFL, but the Navy never changes [evil grin]
Greg
Hmmm-I thought that might be the case-guess I'll have to pan-cook some bacon and make the corn for hubby one night next week.
well greg, when did you propose, date, year etc.? was it before robt? robt may be falsely claiming first place on this (he often does... ; ))
It is time for me to go deliver 2 bids and pick up a check from yesterday's painting-I'll come to class later...
see ya, T5!
